The City of Lake Worth Beach invites qualified individuals to apply for the position of Protection and Control Engineer - GRANT. The Full - Time, Exempt with a salary rate of $67,275 - $90,563. The U.S. Department of Energy's Grid Deployment Office has selected the City of Lake Worth Beach for investment via the Grid Resilience and Innovation Partnerships (GRIP) program to enhance grid flexibility, install more than 60 reclosers and other sectionalizing devices to autonomously rebalance the electrical system, integrate battery energy storage (BES) for community solar, new fiber optics connections, install advanced metering infrastructure (AMI), and deploy a meter data management (MDM) system. Positions covered under this GRIP Grant will expire / terminate in accordance with the grant's timeline: this position will expire on the same date that the grant expires. JOB SUMMARY: Reporting to the Transmission and Substation Engineering Manager, Assistant Director of Transmission and Distribution (T&D) Engineering. Oversees the complete protection and control network to internal and external standards. Key Responsibilities Electronic Design & Optimization Review existing PCB and circuit designs with a focus on miniaturization, power efficiency, and cost -effectiveness. Recommend improvements to enhance performance and manufacturability. Design and prototype new electronic systems in collaboration with the Industrial Design and Engineering teams. Work with suppliers and manufacturers to validate components for production. Product Testing & Evaluation Plan and execute structured tests for components and full products. Documentation & Data Management Maintain accurate records of all test protocols, findings, and design changes using tools like Notion or Google Sheets. Requirements Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or related field. 3-5 years of experience in IoT product development (consumer electronics preferred). Proficiency in PCB design, prototyping, and troubleshooting. Knowledge of low -power design and small form factor integration. Familiarity with BLE, Wi -Fi, microcontrollers, and power management. Job Description This position is responsible for the preparation of electrical schematics for equipment. Essential job functions include: Prepare electrical schematics for equipment (24VDC based control system) Develop operating software for newly developed equipment using PLC based control system (Keyence & Omron are models used) Operate computer-assisted engineering and design software & equipment (AutoCAD) Design, implement, maintain, and improve medical device manufacturing equipment, components, products, and systems Help direct and coordinate manufacturing, assembly/construction, installation, maintenance, support, documentation, and testing activities to ensure compliance with specifications, codes, and customer requirements Prepare specifications for purchase of materials and equipment Perform detailed calculations when needed in the course of the development of equipment. Investigate customer complaints, determine nature and extent of problem, and recommend remedial measures Help oversee product production efforts to ensure projects are completed satisfactorily, on time, and within budget Qualifications A minimum of an associate's degree but Bachelors in Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience is preferred. Must have electrical qualifications at a technician level and must be experienced in PLC and HMI programming. A qualified candidate will also be experienced in designing electrical controls for machines and have knowledge and experience in AutoCad creating schematics.
