James Finlay operates manufacturing sites worldwide (USA, UK, China, Kenya, Sri Lanka & Argentina). The primary role will be within the USA; however, there may be international co-operation with other Finlays' sites around the world to help develop a consistent approach to Engineering Standards.

Evaluation of the cost benefit and development of business cases in collaboration with financial business partners and business unit stakeholders.

What you will do:
Under direct supervision and using established standards, responsible for hardware designs and software programming for HVAC control systems to meet the intent of the project requirements. * Control Systems Expertise: Interpret and troubleshoot complex electrical control systems for a wide range of equipment, from small machines to large induction furnaces.
* PLC Logic & Software: Read and diagnose PLC logic using a laptop and supporting software/hardware, with a focus on Automation Direct/Direct Logic systems.
* Safety Systems: Ensure machinery complies with safety standards through proper use of safety circuits and hardware.
* Induction Equipment: Apply your knowledge of induction principles to support melting furnaces, power supplies, and heating systems.
* Drive Systems: Work with VFDs, Vector Drives, and DC Drive systems (Nidec, Control Techniques, Bardac, Baldor, ABB), including software tools and communication protocols.
* Temperature Control: Configure and troubleshoot programmable and basic temperature controls, especially Eurotherm systems.
* Instrumentation: Understand thermocouple types (K, J), PID control systems, and analog signal ranges (millivolt, 4-20 mA, 0-10 VDC).
* Hydraulic Controls: Support systems involving solenoids, pumps, and motors with electrical control interfaces.
* Voltage Systems: Work across a range of voltages including 480 VAC 3-phase, 240 VAC, 120 VAC, and 24 VDC.
