Hexcel is currently seeking a ControlsEngineer for our Salt Lake City, UT, USA location. The ControlsEngineer will be responsible for managing automated control systems, including equipment and logic, site and machine electrical documentation, site electrical distribution, and supporting capital projects at the Salt Lake City site.
The selected individual will be responsible for but not limited to the following obligations:
Provide expertise in selecting, installing, and programming automated control systems (e.g., Rockwell, Wonderware, Siemens, etc.) for SLC assets.
Safeguard the integrity of SLC programs and mitigate unauthorized modifications.
Demonstrate a strong understanding of Statistical Process Control (SPC) and alarm management to enhance process control in manufacturing operations.
Ensure accurate and accessible electrical documentation for efficient troubleshooting and maintenance of SLC assets.
Assists in troubleshooting of electrical and control systems.
Participates in PHA's for PSM critical processes and provides expertise on established Control Systems.
Leads RCCA program for Electrical/Control System failures and provides corrective actions for overall equipment effectiveness.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams on Continuous Improvement and upgrades to existing SLC assets, includes Capital Projects.
Manage compliance program for asset calibrations.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, or a related field or Associates degree in Automation and Controls with relevant experience
5+ year's experience in controlsengineering, process automation required.
Strong knowledge of automated control systems, such as Rockwell, Wonderware, and Siemens.
Experience with AutoCAD.
Proficient in electrical documentation and troubleshooting techniques and familiarity with machine networking and communication protocols.
Lean and Six Sigma certification preferred.
Experience with SCADA (Ignition) software preferred.
Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills and strong communication and interpersonal abilities.
Experience incorporating machine data, operational data, and vendor data to drive continuous improvement preferred.
Ability to lead projects.

Job Responsibilities

Must be able to read and interpret schematics and manuals pertaining to equipment.
Perform preventative maintenance (PM) schedules as assigned.

This position is for a Senior Electrical Engineer, located in Ogden, UT, who will prepare designs for electrical systems associated with DOD and USAF projects. The successful candidate must have strong organizational and teamwork skills, proven problem-solving abilities, can-do attitude, and the desire to innovate designs. This role will specifically support the USAF Sentinel program Engineering and Manufacturing Development (EMD) phase.
Major Responsibilities:
Evaluates, selects, and applies standard electrical engineering methods, techniques, procedures, and criteria, using independent judgment in making adaptations and modifications
Participates in the design, development and modification of components and processes used in the generation, manipulation, transmission, and storage of electricity utilizing relevant Engineering Department Procedures (EDPs), design standards and guides.
Coordinates work and collaborates with other engineering disciplines
Coordinates electrical engineering efforts in assigned areas with specialty groups, engineering disciplines, the client, vendor, contractors, construction and other functional groups
Prepares conceptual studies, designs, reports or proposals
Provides technical assistance to other electrical personnel and will interact with project functions, the customer, and regulatory agency personnel in the resolution of complex regulatory issues and industry codes and standards
Provides assistance to project and construction management in identifying and complying with project electrical requirements and in addressing issues as they arise during project execution
This role will support design development of Electrical systems and equipment design for the Sentinel program project by preparing engineering studies, drawings, calculations, specifications, and evaluations, in accordance with applicable procedures, codes, standards, and contract requirements.
Work with and mentor junior electrical engineers as well as work with other technical disciplines in a team environment.
Develop new design drawings using Autocad such as single lines, panel schedules, schematics, cable block diagrams, grounding, lightning protection, cathodic protection, and more.
Perform power system analysis modeling and calculations utilizing ETAP. Calculations will include Load Flow, Short Circuit, Motor starting, Relay Coordination, Arc Flash.
Other facility calculations include, lighting design using AGI 32, facility ground grid sizing utilizing ETAP, and underground cable thermal de-rating analysis utilizing ETAP
Perform equipment sizing calculations such as medium voltage utility and low voltage transformers, panel boards, surge protective devices, uninterruptable power supplies and battery sizing calculations
Perform circuit breaker and cable sizing calculations per NFPA 70 to include various de-rating factors.
Develop equipment and material specifications utilizing the software SpecsIntact
Develop procurement documentation (written scopes of work) as well as perform supplier proposal evaluations.
Review vendor submittals and integrate information into the design
Coordinate systems requirement development and verifications with Systems engineering and the client
Education and Experience Requirements:
Requires bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 5-8 years of relevant work experience
Must be a United States citizen
Must be able to complete and pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check
Required Knowledge and Skills:
Relevant experience includes, but is not limited to, drawings, calculations, and specifications for Electrical systems and equipment on nuclear or industrial process facilities, data centers, central utility plants, or complex building Electrical systems. US citizenship is required per contract requirement. Possess active security clearance or ability to obtain security clearance.
