Position Details:
Title: BAS Controls Technician
Location: Denver, CO (25% Local Work)
Travel: Up to 75% to project locations across major U.S. cities
Key Responsibilities:
Commission, configure, and troubleshoot Tridium/Niagara controllers
Service and support a variety of open and proprietary BAS platforms
Execute point-to-point device checkout and verify system functionality
Integrate systems using Modbus, BACnet, and TCP/IP communication protocols
Install DDC controllers, sensors, relays, and control-related hardware
Assemble, wire, and test low-voltage control panels and devices
Terminate, label, and maintain low-voltage cabling in an organized manner
Calibrate sensors, actuators, and field devices to ensure proper operation
Document commissioning activities and submit daily test logs

What You'll Do:
Evaluates, maintains, repairs, troubleshoots and installs HVAC controls (e.g., fire, air quality) utilizing computer and associated software and hardware; troubleshoots and identifies system failure, and performs needed repairs, or refers other repairs to shop staff.
Adjusts and calibrates HVAC controls to overcome system deficiencies or for system operation, considering current system and how space is being used.
Reviews work orders, prioritizes, and determine supplies for repair and purchases supplies using District purchase order system.
Communicates and coordinates with staff at work site and with other shop staff.
Works with and installs HVAC systems; diagnoses repairs, modifies and performs repairs using blueprints and considering building codes (e.g., UBC) and standards; fabricates, repairs, and installs HVAC system (inside) ductwork, fittings, registers, venting, pipe fittings.
Prepares and cleans up job site (e.g., erecting scaffolding), taking into consideration safety concerns of self and others (e.g., students, employees), and disposes of waste and flammable materials.
Performs work and cross trains in at least one other trade as an apprentice.
Assists with snow removal efforts on a 24 hour on-call basis.
Responds to emergencies 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
Under direction of L3 (Master or Multi-Skilled), may assist or perform the following functions: Train and mentor staff; bid on work requested by schools, and prepares quote; inspect work of independent contractors, identifies deficiencies; and communicate with project manager about correcting deficiencies according to code (e.g., city, state) and district specifications.

Location:
This position is in Parachute, CO. Candidates currently residing in locations outside of daily commuting distance will be considered, however, it is the expectation that the selected individual will be available at the work location.

This position is responsible for maintaining electrical and mechanical systems on all automation equipment. (S)he will be responsible for troubleshooting electrical and mechanical problems and implementing corrective and preventative measures.
Follow all required work safe practices. This would include compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices, wearing of all required PPE in designated areas, confined space safety, safe chemical handling, fall restraints, etc.
Essential Duties:
Repair and maintain a variety of equipment and perform preventative maintenance on distribution center and/or manufacturing equipment
Use diagnostic equipment to troubleshoot, analyze and predict upcoming failures
Dismantle machines and equipment to gain access to problem areas
Operate metalworking machines such as bench lathes, milling machines, punch presses, and drive presses to fabricate housings, fittings, jogs and fixtures
Inspect and measure parts to detect wear, misalignment, or other problems
Remove and/or replace worn or defective parts

Qualifications:

2+ years of commercial or industrial maintenance experience or experience in a related field
Experience with low and high voltage electrical systems

Able to read electrical and mechanical schematics and drawings and have a good understanding of electrical and electronic symbols.
Experience with tools required for electric and mechanical assembly and fabrication
Strong, effective written and verbal communication skills
Detail oriented and strive for quality workmanship
Basic Qualifications & Competencies
2 years (or more) experience with panel building, layout, and design
Computer Skills- Word, Excel, Outlook
Experience with panel assembly, trouble shooting, fabrication, build, component layout, electrical enclosures, electrical assemblies, controls, and wiring- both AC and DC
Knowledge of UL508A Standards- Ability to complete resolve issues using the UL508A guide
Must be able to provide proof of eligibility to work in the U.S.
