We're looking for a skilled ControlsTechnician to support, maintain, and improve all plant electrical and control systems-including electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, mechanical, and network subsystems. In this role, you'll act as a technical subject-matter expert, providing troubleshooting support, leading root-cause analysis, training maintenance techs across all shifts, and ensuring smooth operation of all production and facility systems.
You'll work closely with the Maintenance Supervisor, Planner, and Manager to keep production on track, equipment running safely, and documentation up to date.
What You'll Do
Core Responsibilities
Inspect, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain food processing and packaging equipment.
Perform corrective, preventive, and scheduled maintenance on a wide variety of automated equipment.
Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and control-system issues.
Install, program, and troubleshoot PLCs, HMIs, servo drives, VFDs, and related systems.
Support and coordinate mechanical technicians during breakdowns and major repairs.
Maintain accurate documentation on all controls systems-including hardware, software, and changes.
Work safely using proper PPE and adhere to all HACCP, Allergen, Food Defense, and GMP policies.
Perform inspections and repairs while equipment is operating on a live production schedule.
Lead troubleshooting efforts during downtime and expedite equipment recovery.
Maintain secondary plant systems (steam, chilled water, pneumatics, HVAC, electrical distribution, refrigeration, etc.).
Write and update job procedures and frequencies within the CMMS (SAP).
Train technicians on PLC/VFD/HMI troubleshooting using laptops and plant software tools.
Occasionally travel for training, equipment work, or parts procurement.
Keep the work area clean and report any potential contamination or unsafe conditions immediately.
Key Technical Skills
Skilled electrical troubleshooting (120V-480V).
Strong understanding of PLC programming (RSLogix, FactoryTalk View, ladder logic).
Experience with servo systems, VFDs, motor controls, HMIs, pneumatics, and hydraulics.
Ability to read and interpret P&IDs, electrical single-line diagrams, loop drawings, termination diagrams, and mechanical layouts.
Experience maintaining batching or continuous process systems and their networks.
Ability to perform mechanical, plumbing, and instrumentation work at a semi-skilled level.
Qualifications
Previous experience as a ControlsTechnician, Automation Technician, or similar role in manufacturing (food industry experience preferred).
Strong troubleshooting aptitude-electrical, mechanical, and automation.
Ability to work in a fast-paced production environment under pressure.
Excellent communication skills and teamwork mindset.
Regular, predictable attendance.

About the Role

First Six Months:
Within the first six months, the candidate will be onboarded, become AM metals customer segment literate, and exercise mastery over the commercial value-add and technical specifications of the products. These goals can be accomplished via 3 main stages.
Month 1
· Understand Phase3D core technologies, technology roadmap, and business strategy
o Complete one calibration of the Fringe system at a development partner's laboratory
o Install updated metal fixtures in at least 1 partner site
o Supervise two biweekly tests, supporting developers in troubleshooting tasks
· Socialize with the cross-functional team, understanding each person's area of expertise and skills spanning the hardware, software, and product installation activities
o Take the initiative to schedule a 15 minute meeting with each member of the Phase3D team, including our digital fringe projection expert and our company coach

o Lead all biweekly test coordination, successfully run 4 biweekly tests and write reports on the results for the slack channel

o Lead the trip planning process for at least 1 installation

JOB SUMMARY
Cresco Labs is seeking an Automation Technician to join our skilled maintenance and facilities engineering team. The Automation Technician's primary responsibility is the safe and continual operation of automated packaging, processing, extraction and other automated equipment. The Automation Technician will be responsible for the preventative maintenance of the processing and packaging equipment, as well as any daily equipment/operational issues that may occur with the equipment.
CORE JOB DUTIES
Maintain, inspect, troubleshoot, repair, install, and perform preventative maintenance on industrial processing, packaging, and automated equipment. Including Pneumatics, Hydraulics, and Electrical troubleshooting.
Safely repairs, inspects, troubleshoots, and ensures proper operation of processing and packaging equipment throughout the facilities.
Performs maintenance, disassembly, repair, replacement or adjustment of various equipment in accordance with technical specifications and engineering instructions.
Performs set-up and changeover of packaging equipment.
Interpret technical data - blueprints, manufacturers manuals and specifications.
Ensure all production documentation is maintained timely and accurately.
At the direction of the Maintenance Manager, partner with operations and production teams to ensure scheduled downtime and proper maintenance of equipment.
Performs other related duties and assignments as required.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION AND SKILLS
3+ years of experience inspecting, troubleshooting, performing complex repairs, and or installing high speed packaging and processing equipment.
Proficient with lockout tagout procedures (LOTO) and other OSHA safety standards as required.
Proficiency and expertise with automated packaging equipment
Ability to read machine prints and perform machine repair
Automation related technical certification (preferred)

What you will do
