PURPOSE
Automation Technicians will be responsible for supporting Project Managers and System Engineers with creating, installing, and commissioning of PLC/HMI/SCADA based systems as well as network and device integration work.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Assist with project programming, start up, and commissioning of new PLC/HMI/SCADA control systems, service and maintenance of existing installations, fault diagnoses, hardware repairs, and programming bug fixes and alterations on customer sites

MINIMUM EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED TO PERFORM ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Minimum of three years of experience with PLC/HMI control system preferred
Or A.A.S degree specialized in Robotics, Automation, Technology or in process of completion
MENTAL AND PHYSICAL COMPETENCIES REQUIRED TO PERFORM ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Working knowledge of at least one PLC software (i.e. Rockwell RSLogix, Studio 5000, CCW, Modicon Unity Pro, Mitsubishi, or many others)

Quality System Responsibilities:
Proficiently uses CMM's, calipers, micrometers, pin gages, height gages, optical comparators, and other traditional measurement tools and equipment.

Creates and maintains CMM programs in lab and production environments.
Works with business unit teams, engineering groups, and project teams to qualify internally manufactured products.
Review and update the quality system requirements for new or revised products, including review and measurement of key control characteristics (KCC) identification and documentation.
Work closely with engineering to support Factory Acceptance Testing, and trial builds of product throughout the system, gathering feedback for evaluation and analysis.

Job Purpose
Design and plan work orders for the construction, maintenance, and modification of the Utility's electric transmission and distribution system. Ensure work orders are completed timely and accurately. Provide line design and cost estimates for maintenance projects and small capital (PSF) projects (level II position only).
Provide assistance to customers and contractors for job sales. This includes:

Monitor job sales construction activities and approve subsequent billings to customers.
Respond to customer complaints and take action as needed. Communicate Utility policy to customers.
Perform preventive maintenance programs as needed, including infrared scanning, periodic equipment inspections, radio interference, and ground resistance measurements. Create work orders to correct any problems.
Other Responsibilities
Work with electricians, residential and commercial customers in design and construction requirements for electrical and lighting services and security lights.
Obtain easements from customers for transmission and distribution lines and equipment.
Level II position will assist Engineering Technician III with:
Assisting large industrial customers in design and construction requirements for electrical and lighting services and security lights.
Participation in creation, review, and modification of Construction Standards, including participation within the Construction Standards Committee.

Qualifications
Knowledge
Associate's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience required.
Previous transmission and distribution system design and maintenance experience preferred.
Engineering Technician I is an entry-level position with utility experience preferred. Engineering Technician II is a minimum 3 years utility experience preferred. Experience in both electric and water is desired.
Minimum 1 year of experience using GIS software, Esri ArcGIS preferred (level II position only).
Working knowledge, or ability to quickly obtain knowledge, of overhead and underground electrical systems, designs, metering, and equipment including transformers, capacitors, oil switches, and switchgear.
Working knowledge, or ability to quickly obtain knowledge, of applicable local, state, and federal codes, publications, and standards that govern work on the transmission and distribution system such as NESC, NEC, NFPA, OSHA, and Iowa Utility Board.

* At least five (5) years of work experience in INSTRUMENTATION AND ELECTRICAL systems
* Relevant work experience in an industrial environment.
The Job You Will Perform:
This position will work alongside journeymen-level Electrical/Instrumentation maintenance technicians in routine maintenance work as well as performing many duties independently. Our world class Global Manufacturing Training program provides paid hands-on experiences and classroom instruction in order to prepare you for your next promotion
Duties include, but are not limited to:
Instrumentation:
* Troubleshoot, configure, maintain:
* PLC systems
* Single loop controls for various field systems
* Instillation, calibration, troubleshooting various manufactures of analog and SMART instruments and analytical equipment
* Shop and field repair of final control elements such as pneumatic valves, electric valves, solenoid operated valves, calibration of pneumatic and SMART valve positioners
* Reading and interpreting electrical schematics
* Routine and regulatory calibration of field instruments for boilers and environmental systems
* Troubleshoot, maintain pneumatic and hydraulic systems
* Read and redline loop sheets, P&IDs
* Read and interpret wiring diagrams & electrical schematics
* Understand and follow NFPA70E regulations involving Arc Flash and Shock hazards
* Calibration and maintaining control instrumentation
AND
Electrician:
* Troubleshoot, install, repair AC and DC drive systems as well as stand-alone process drives of various manufacturers
* Troubleshoot, install, maintain various electrical components such as mechanical limit, proximity, photo electric, speed and reflective switches
* Reading and interpreting electrical schematic
* Perform repairs and preventive maintenance on 480v thru 13.8kv power distribution switchgear
* Understand and follow NFPA70E regulations involving Arc Flash and Shock hazards
