Installs, tests, and repairs electrical/electronic apparatus such as AC/DC motors, circuits, transformers, alternators, generators, low, medium and high voltage switchgear (including air, oil, and gas powered circuit breakers, disconnects, and switches); alarm systems, solid-state and electro-mechanical control systems, heat recovery steam generator controls, burner management systems, combustion turbine controls, steam turbine controls, generator and excitation controls, and balance of plant control systems. Reports to the Lead I/C Specialist. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS (NOTE: There are also secondary functions, which the employee will be required to perform.) Inspects equipment to determine the need for preventive maintenance and makes repairs routinely. Install switches, receptacles, indicators, alarms, process indication and control devices, motors, lighting, conduit and wiring, and instrument tubing according to prints and specifications routinely. Comply with all applicable North American Electric Reliability Corporation (NERC) reliability standards requirements, Florida Reliability Coordinating Council (FRCC) reliability standards requirements, and all FPUA reliability standards. Conduct performance tests on complex power generation equipment, records and graphs results. Troubleshoots and determines causes for systems malfunctions. Maintain a functional knowledge of the operation of the controls system software and hardware. Requires close cooperation and coordination with plant operating personnel on new installations and troubleshooting existing equipment. Must obtain a certificate for CPR and first-aid training; updated at two (2) year intervals. ESSENTIAL MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of an acceptable equivalency diploma. AS in electrical engineering technology or International Society of Automation (ISA) Certificate preferred. Two (2) to five (5) years experience in electronic process control, instrument calibration, maintaining and repairing electrical circuits, equipment and instruments including AC and DC motor control circuits, circuit breakers and related electronic apparatus in a Power Plant environment. A comparable amount of training and experience or military education may be substituted for the minimum qualifications. A valid State of Florida Driver's License is desired.
