We're looking for a skilled ControlsTechnician to support, maintain, and improve all plant electrical and control systems-including electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, mechanical, and network subsystems. In this role, you'll act as a technical subject-matter expert, providing troubleshooting support, leading root-cause analysis, training maintenance techs across all shifts, and ensuring smooth operation of all production and facility systems.
You'll work closely with the Maintenance Supervisor, Planner, and Manager to keep production on track, equipment running safely, and documentation up to date.
What You'll Do
Core Responsibilities
Inspect, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain food processing and packaging equipment.
Perform corrective, preventive, and scheduled maintenance on a wide variety of automated equipment.
Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and control-system issues.
Install, program, and troubleshoot PLCs, HMIs, servo drives, VFDs, and related systems.
Support and coordinate mechanical technicians during breakdowns and major repairs.
Maintain accurate documentation on all controls systems-including hardware, software, and changes.
Work safely using proper PPE and adhere to all HACCP, Allergen, Food Defense, and GMP policies.
Perform inspections and repairs while equipment is operating on a live production schedule.
Lead troubleshooting efforts during downtime and expedite equipment recovery.
Maintain secondary plant systems (steam, chilled water, pneumatics, HVAC, electrical distribution, refrigeration, etc.).
Write and update job procedures and frequencies within the CMMS (SAP).
Train technicians on PLC/VFD/HMI troubleshooting using laptops and plant software tools.
Occasionally travel for training, equipment work, or parts procurement.
Keep the work area clean and report any potential contamination or unsafe conditions immediately.
Key Technical Skills
Skilled electrical troubleshooting (120V-480V).
Strong understanding of PLC programming (RSLogix, FactoryTalk View, ladder logic).
Experience with servo systems, VFDs, motor controls, HMIs, pneumatics, and hydraulics.
Ability to read and interpret P&IDs, electrical single-line diagrams, loop drawings, termination diagrams, and mechanical layouts.
Experience maintaining batching or continuous process systems and their networks.
Ability to perform mechanical, plumbing, and instrumentation work at a semi-skilled level.
Qualifications
Previous experience as a ControlsTechnician, Automation Technician, or similar role in manufacturing (food industry experience preferred).
Strong troubleshooting aptitude-electrical, mechanical, and automation.
Ability to work in a fast-paced production environment under pressure.
Excellent communication skills and teamwork mindset.
Regular, predictable attendance.

As a Robot Technician you will
Configure robot systems and perform job calibrations for production operation
Monitor robot systems during production and address or report any operational issues
Assist in repairs to the robotic systems.
Understand the requirements of a properly installed and prepared tool and the impact of errors or improper setup on the robotic process
Perform machine cycle and make any necessary robot program modifications
Assess and troubleshoot operational errors
Read and understand product briefs and process sheets to ensure accuracy in machine set up
Operate HMI/MIU to optimize platen heights, install program for robots/robotics lines, and input process numbers for mold changes
Understand and efficiently operate robotic pendants, controllers, and panels.
Use a tape measure to confirm mold sizes
Ensure all equipment is in proper position before removing molds from machine
Clean and inspect molds between each use; report any damage to Set Up Lead and Quality Department, send out any damaged molds for repair
Install, repair, or replace end of arm tooling for robotic machines
Perform assigned preventative maintenance and housekeeping tasks to prevent productivity losses and possible equipment damage
Train new and existing team members on different functions of the work area to ensure all are able to perform all tasks properly; share knowledge and best practices to help aid efficiency and productivity
Cross train in other areas with similar equipment, and in areas that immediately precede and follow the operations you are responsible for
Perform all job functions in compliance with safety guidelines and company policies/procedures
Maintain your training and full understanding of the quality requirements of the products your equipment / process produces
Keep work area in a clean and orderly condition, clean and maintain equipment
Communicate clearly and work as part of a team
Work weekends and overtime, as required
Set the next shift up for success
Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications
Previous machine set up experience (preferred)
Hold a working knowledge of Plastics and Thermoforming (preferred)
Familiarity with mechanical, electrical, hydraulic and pneumatic processes in a manufacturing environment
Knowledge of OSHA regulations as they pertain to manufacturing
Ability to read, write, and understand verbal and written work orders/instructions in English
Possess basic math, measuring, and computer skills (required)
A high degree of attention to safety to prevent accidents, injuries, and quality issues
Possess experience using basic hand and power tools
Be dependable with excellent attendance
Be able to work without close supervision in a team environment
Authorization work in the United States
A high school diploma or equivalent (required)
Ability to operate a variety of measuring devices, machines, hand and power tools, manual lifting devices, and powered industrial vehicles

Responsibilities:
* Overseeing and maintaining an operational readiness of the AutoStore (AS) and SLAM at our fully automated locations.
* Inventory and account for repair parts for the AS and SLAM
* Ordering repair parts for the AS and SLAM as they are consumed.
* Protecting and improving the value of Cardinal's assets and ensuring that ASRS and all supply line distribution equipment and systems including PSI, continue to perform their intended functions.
* Implementing and managing the reliability-based maintenance function. This position also executes equipment inspection and monitoring programs; defines and implements maintenance best practices to improve overall mechanical equipment uptime; and continuously evaluates current maintenance, operations and reliability methods and implements changes to enhance effectiveness at increasing value-maximizing performance.
* Monitoring operation and maintains ASRS equipment; robots, conveyors, and other mechanical and electrical equipment; reviewing logs as necessary to assure proper operation of equipment; responsible for reporting any problems/malfunctions on an as need/requested basis.
* Performing preventive maintenance tasks when required per manufacturing standard and frequencies, utilizing a CMMS.
* Overseeing repairs and PMs of ASRS equipment and implements frequency of repair and/or PM per manufactures recommendations, standards, and warranty compliance.
* Ensuring the availability of an adequate inventory of tools and other supplies to operate the ASRS and all associated automation, including PSI.
* Overseeing the activities of contractors working, operational demonstrations, or training sessions within the ASRS distribution work and the SLAM line.
Qualifications:
* 4+ years of experience working with commercial operating systems and general maintenance procedures, preferred
* High School diploma, GED or equivalent, or equivalent work experience, preferred
* 2+ years of work order management preferred
* Experience with electrical and electronic principles and industrial electronics
* Able to complete training to become a PSI SLAM Line and Swisslog- Supper User and become proficient with: Ability to manually move robots and bins throughout system, Rescue robots from grid, Access, and ability to identify, diagnose, and resolve system issues using Autostore portal
* Make repairs and adjustments to system (robots, ports, etc.) using Autostore portal
* Ability to open tickets with PSI and Swisslog global helpdesk and help troubleshoot issues
* Experience with Java, Microsoft, and C++ preferred
* High familiarity with Autostore Console (ASC) preferred
