It will be your job to help evaluate, assemble, and debug various electrical systems that are part of our prototype and production builds. The job will also be a key part of the new product development flow by helping to manage and organize inventory of parts and materials for prototype builds of systems. Primary Job Duties & Responsibilities: Help build, troubleshoot and debug complex electrical systems. Assist engineers and production in troubleshooting electrical hardware and wiring. Read and interpret electrical schematics and wiring diagrams. Complete PCB rework, aid in debugging PCBs and cables, and soldering as needed. Order and maintain the supply of electrical components needed for engineering. Manage and organize engineering prototype inventory, supporting engineering needs. Order prototype inventory from vendors, working with purchasing department to order prototype boards and assemblies. Support the engineering organization by working with our internal Document Control group, create prototype BOMs, create new part numbers for new components, and write engineering ECOs. Work from schematics, napkin sketches, and verbal instructions. Job Qualifications: High school degree or equivalent required. 4-8 years of experience as a highly skilled Electrical / Mechanical Technician, adept at troubleshooting and maintaining complex integrated systems. Proficient at soldering, including custom wiring and components down to the 0201 size. Proficient in use of multimeters, oscilloscopes and other electrical equipment. Knowledge of Altium Tools and Siemens/Mentor Graphics Schematic tools and Layout tools (PADS) is a plus. Knowledge of cable manufacturing, with the ability to build prototype assemblies. Knowledge of file management, text editing, and system configuration. Strong computer skills and ability to use Microsoft Office product tools to aid in making documentation changes and ordering parts. Strong organizational and time management skills-able to manage and track multiple projects simultaneously. Ability to help maintain a clean and organized lab environment. Good written and verbal communication skills with the ability to explain and teach technical concepts to others. Delivers "superstat" samples. * Processes specimens by centrifugation/8100 as needed. Makes certain specimens are spun in order of their priority. Scans non-8100 specimen numbers into computer for monitoring of turnaround times. * Aliquots samples as needed. Makes certain that amounts and types of specimens are aliquoted correctly. Maintains sample integrity per established procedures. Places samples in the appropriate locations for pick-up by other labs or for reference lab testing. * Performs single-workstation processing per established protocols. Maintains quality and productivity within established parameters. Responsible for covering Sort workstation: * Verifies accuracy of tests logged and corrects them where necessary. Maintains requisitions for easy retrieval. * Notifies providers of collection or processing errors and enters results into the computer. * Performs troubleshooting duties for coordinators and clinicians. * Prints and distributes reports. Faxes reports upon request. Responsible for receiving, sorting and prioritizing all samples arriving in Lab Control. * Makes sure that stat and other priority samples are processed first. * Makes sure that all samples are accounted for, time stamped and distributed among workstations per established procedures. Maintains sample integrity per established procedures. * Maintains order among requisitions to facilitate timely processing and minimize delays. Notifies technician in-charge of backups. Transports specimens and supplies via cooler from Lab Control to Shuttle Bus and other locations. Maintains logs and transit sheets per established procedure. Assists with canisters and phone when not on runs. Stores and discards specimens per established protocols. Performs end-of shift courier duties as directed. Responsible for daily operation of the Roche 8100 automated line * Loads samples and replenishes module supplies * Troubleshoots alarms, calls for assistance from more senior staff when necessary. * Performs TSM line changes with the assistance of the chemistry staff. Assists with workflow issues and other duties as directed by the senior staff. Answers the phone as needed: provides information and performs add-ons as requested by the clinician. Refers callers appropriately when indicated. * Performs emergency procedures during computer down time, following established protocols under the direction of the tech in charge. * Informs Coordinator and Supervisor when workstation supplies are low. * Maintains safety. * Is responsible to be aware of JC National Patient Safety Goals and to comply with BWH and Laboratory policies and procedures. * Performs other duties as required.
