Job Description WHAT YOU'LL DO Amsted Automotive Powder Metal Division in Geneva, IL is seeking a 2nd shift Automation Technician to perform duties to set-up, program, troubleshoot, and repair automation equipment. Shift hours are 2:30 pm to 11:00 pm. The Automation Technician will work from instructions, prints and process specifications. Set-up all robotics and automation equipment in the plant. This includes fixtures, conveyors, grippers, pin stamper, and brush set-up to meet process specifications required to run operation, and obtaining all necessary paperwork needed. Give temporary inspection approval, pending full inspection approval on set-up prior to production run using robotic equipment. Monitor production runs for correct set-up, quality of parts, and stoppage avoidance. Obtain full inspection approvals on set-up. Recommend and apply new automation applications and technologies in the plant. Optimize current automation applications to maximize production and quality. Provide technical guidance and troubleshooting on all robotic machine applications. Assist in implementation of new processes, sampling jobs and collect data for experiments. Perform necessary recordkeeping, PMs, and paperwork. Perform all necessary minor repairs on automation including rails, sensors, grippers, belts, actuators, and rollers. Train and assist other employees as required. Seek help if problems arise and ask questions if you don't understand. Participate in team problem solving as part of the departmental continuous improvement process. Follow all safety rules and keep work area clean and in an orderly condition. SUMMARY STATEMENT GENERAL RESPONSIBILITY: The primary function is to plan and execute work to maintain, troubleshoot, repair, and improve automation, controls, and production equipment per KHNA engineering standards. Oversee problem solving efforts concerning electronic, PLC's, and instrumentation equipment to minimize failures and downtime. * Troubleshoot all factory electrical equipment. * Responsible to ensure proper training of in-house technicians has been completed for each new system and that skills are kept current on all existing systems. * Provides help and expertise to engineering concerning the design and installation of new systems. * Responsible for developing and recommending improvements to equipment, methods, layout, and procedures pertaining to department operations.
