Participates in field inspection of mosquito breeding sites and exercises judgment in control techniques and treatment to be applied. Management may assign additional functions related to the type of work of the class as necessary. * Conducts systematic daily checks of assigned areas in the County to locate noxious arthropod breeding areas. * Identify breeding problems and exercise good judgment in selecting appropriate control technique and/or treatment. * Applies insecticides and chemicals according to procedure in order to maximize the coverage of the area while ensuring compliance with all applicable Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), State and County regulations and policies governing the application of pesticides. * Utilizes specialized techniques such as light traps to capture adult mosquitoes; records landing rate counts. * Reads and interprets a variety of instructions maps, diagrams, or schedules to determine appropriate spraying locations. * Operates spray truck, as needed, with heightened awareness to pedestrian and traffic conditions, and in accordance with traffic laws, ordinances, and safe driving practices, for the safe distribution of mosquito control chemicals and insecticides in designated County areas. * Sprays only during appropriate weather conditions to ensure localized and lasting distribution. * Cleans and maintains spray truck and equipment; flushes the spray system after each shift. * Performs all duties within the framework of pre-established safety policies and procedures. * Disposes of chemicals, biological agents, and hazardous materials in accordance with prescribed safety policies and environmental procedures; maintains cleanliness of facilities and equipment; maintains inventory of materials. * Performs related work as assigned. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: * Requires High School graduation or GED equivalent. * Over six months and up to and including one year of related experience. * South Carolina Non-Commercial Pesticide Applicator's license (Category 8) * Must possess and maintain a valid state driver's license with an acceptable driving history.

Physical Requirements/Work Environment: • Must be able to work in an outdoor environment and be able to travel occasionally to remote project sites. • Must be able to sit, stand or walk for the entire duration of a shift. • Must be able to stoop, kneel or bend. • Must be able to lift, push or pull 50 lbs. overhead repeatedly. • 20/40 vision in each eye, with or without correction and ability to distinguish colors. • Ability to wear full complement of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as required. • Must have the ability to travel up to 75 % of the time, work on-call during off-shift hours and weekends. #LI-SS1
