This position is an entry level position within the SCADA department. This position will assist with the installation and maintenance activities associated with field measurement instrumentation, advanced real-time data communication, and SCADA control to ensure optimum system operation and reliability. Assist with field repairs to rectify issues with RF, land-line, cellular, or WPLS communication systems. Assist with calibration tests to ensure field instrumentation, real-time controls and SCADA equipment are performing reliable and to manufacturer specifications, Company standards and regulatory guidelines. Auxiliary duties include assisting Controls Specialist and above with maintenance of electronic controls and equipment associated with Odorizers, electronic chart recorders, tap heaters, chromatographs, transmitters, phone modems and RTUs. Job Responsibilities Functional Expertise: * Ability to maintain, troubleshoot and repair data communication systems using radio, landline, and cellular technology. * Ability to maintain, troubleshoot and repair data field communication auxiliary equipment such as radio antennas, modems, routers, and poll servers. * Ability to install, maintain, troubleshoot and repair SCADA RTU field equipment. * Ability to install, maintain, and calibrate field transmitters such as flow, pressure, and temperature units. * Conduct point to point commissioning of SCADA equipment with Gas Control to verify date accuracy. Business Acumen: * Work towards understanding industry (AGA, SGA, etc.) calibration procedures as they relate to measurement and SCADA devices. * Complete daily work assignments and regional requirements. * Work towards the ability to analyze and interpret data to resolve issues and make process changes. Engagement: * Collaborate with Gas Control and Real-time System Support to design and configure RTU's. * Become familiar with internal departments to meet company goals and build cohesive relationships. * Assist with pipeline and measurement field personnel to correct measurement issues. * Assist with work tickets to resolve issues that are identified in the field for repair. Driving Results: * Execute departmental metrics. * Assist Controls Specialist to ensure all regulatory requirements are met. * Maintain personal tools and parts inventory. * Become familiar with field equipment as needed and maintain records of equipment when replaced, installed or removed. * Assist in developing and reviewing best practices. Qualifications Education, Certifications/Licenses: Required: Highschool Education or Equivalent Preferred: Associates or 2 year technical degree in electronics Related Work Experience: Required: Ability to work with and learn from Controls Specialist and SCADA Engineers Preferred: Experience working with data communication protocols i.e. WPLS, modems, land-lines, Modbus, IP, etc. Experience in SCADA field controls design, installation and maintenance. How you will do it Designs, configures and services technically complex building control systems for the customers facility. Creates flow diagrams, sequence of operations, bill of material, network layouts, schedules and electrical schematics as required. Develops and tests software programs necessary to operate the system per customer facility requirements' intent. Coordinates and creates necessary drawings and equipment schedules for submittals, services and/or installation. Selects, orders, and tracks the delivery of materials for assigned jobs. Assists in the loading and commissioning of all system and network-level controllers as required. Assists in validation of complete system functionality and solves problems with subcontractors and other trades to ensure proper operation. Provides field change information to the team for the creation of as-built drawings and software. Keeps management and JCI contractor and customer informed of job progress and issues. Assists in performing site-specific training for owner / operator on the total building control system. Participates in coordination and release meetings with sales and service operations. Performs value engineering to provide cost effective results while maintaining customer satisfaction. May provide work direction to Service Controls Technician I and Senior I and Senior II Controls Technicians. Adheres to safety standards. High degree of regard to employee and subcontractor safety What we look for Required Bachelor's degree in engineering and/or minimum Eight (8) years' experience Demonstrated knowledge of the construction or service, or HVAC industry. Demonstrated knowledge of control theory, automatic temperature controls, building automation systems and other building subsystems. Demonstrated experience in the integration of low voltage building sub-systems using various industry protocols (i.e., LON, BACnet, etc.). Ability to relate technical knowledge to a non-technical audience. Demonstrated advanced computer skills required, particularly computer-related drafting tools. Job Description The Solar Electrical Technician I is responsible for assisting with the performance all O&M PV plant maintenance operations, to include but not limited to testing, maintenance, and repair of all major and balance-of- system components utilized in PV power generation. This individual will receive comprehensive on-the- job, classroom-based, and online training pertaining to all aspects of PV fundamentals, installation, testing, maintenance, and repair of small commercial and utility-scale PV systems. Uphold a culture of safety by ensuring strict adherence to OSHA, NFPA, state and local codes, and Strata Solar Services safety protocols. Technicians must undergo comprehensive training and demonstrate full comprehension after commencing any on-site activities. • Develop a profound understanding of electrical theory to interpret design drawings and promptly identify and escalate any electrical safety hazards. • Execute both scheduled and unscheduled maintenance tasks, focusing on enhancing plant performance and operational efficiency. • Work on and around energized electrical parts. Handle energized electrical components in accordance with established electrical codes and company policies, following rigorous training sessions. • Utilize a range of tools including multimeters, low resistance Ohmmeters, PV Analyzers, IR thermometers, IR cameras, and hand-held irradiance meters for electrical maintenance duties. • Conduct pre-job safety briefings and ensure compliance with all safety procedures after commencing work. • Attend training sessions at local and remote facilities to enhance skills and knowledge. • Travel to remote sites within the operating fleet to provide assistance and ensure successful project completion. • Implement Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures to maintain compliance with electrical isolation protocols. • Troubleshoot and diagnose common Direct Current (DC) faults within the PV plant. • Complete and submit all assigned inspection and testing data promptly and accurately. • Document all completed work using Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) and other organizational platforms. • Extract data files, troubleshoot communication issues, and operate monitoring software using PCs or tablets. Provision replacement devices and share photos via service tickets. • Conduct basic networking, such as changing IP addresses on laptop to connect with equipment. • Other duties as assigned. Education and/or Work Experience Requirements: • High School Diploma, GED or Equivalent. • Minimum three (3) years of experience working with energized AC or DC systems, or other relevant experience preferred. • Ability to demonstrate basic working knowledge of electrical theory & PV power generating system fundamentals. • Ability to read and understand electrical drawings and schematics. • Aptitude for learning and understanding operation of various testing equipment, tools and procedures utilized in the maintenance of PV power generation systems. • Ability to collaborate and coordinate well with peer Technicians and other personnel, vendors, and subcontractors. • Proficiency with MS Office applications to include but not limited to MS Word and Excel, as well as an ability to learn new computer programs without difficulty. • Ability to operate in a professional workmanlike manner consistent with the organization's policies, procedures, and vision. • Possess and maintain a valid driver's license. Physical Requirements/Work Environment: Must be able to work in an outdoor environment and be able to travel occasionally to remote project sites. Must be able to sit, stand or walk for the entire duration of a shift. Must be able to stoop, kneel or bend. Must be able to lift, push or pull 50 lbs overhead repeatedly. 20/40 vision in each eye, with or without correction and ability to distinguish colors. Ability to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is required. Must have the ability to travel, work on-call during off-shift hours and weekends.
