    A few years back, one of the original VP's at Convergint, Ken LaChance, passed away. During the time following, stories about LaChance came flooding through. All of the stories came from various colleagues about how LaChance had helped them out in some way whether it was financially or if it was giving back to the community. Ryan Marshall, Regional Human Resources Manager, remembers hearing these wonderful stories of how well LaChance treated people.

    "That type of leader exemplifies our culture," Marshall said. That's why the Ken LaChance fund was set up immediately following his passing. The nonprofit 501(c)(3) is used to help colleagues when they're in distress due to an emergency. Colleagues can donate to the fund and then the company will award grant money to the people in need.

    "The fund doesn't just align with the culture at Convergint. It is the culture at Convergint," said Marshall. "We like to take care of each other at Convergint. Our culture really sells itself. People want to work in an energized company where they're treated well with great career opportunities. At Convergint, the future looks brighter than ever."

    The company is constantly looking for people who are passionate about what they do.     At Convergint, they make sure you have enough PTO to spend a bit of time away from work. But they don't stop there. With the company's Fun and Laughter Day, you have to take an extra day off. That's in addition to your already generous PTO. You can't skip out on taking a Fun and Laughter Day. It's company policy. You can spend this day out with family and friends. On top of that, the company reimburses you for all of the fun you had.

    "We still believe in fun and laughter, and we promote it every day," said Marshall. "It just shows that this culture is alive and well. Our colleagues really appreciate it." Additionally, the company hosts events every month for all of its offices. From cookouts to employee celebrations, it's clear Convergint loves having fun.

    Every year, Convergint celebrates the company anniversary in June with a day of giving back. Every company office is shut down on Social Responsibility Day, also known as Convergint Day. "It's the most celebrated day at Convergint," said Marshall. Every colleague volunteers at a nonprofit instead of working that day. Previous volunteer work included rebuilding a community, redoing a school's playground, fixing up a group home that was home to people with disabilities and taking the time to feed starving children. The company tries to pick different nonprofits every year.

    Giving back is really important to the company. It also hosts a Step Up program where top notch security systems are donated to underserved schools. Just last year, Convergint donated systems to 17 schools who couldn't offerwise afford the systems to protect their students and teachers. "We don't just donate the security systems. We install and service the best of the best equipment to protect everyone in those areas," said Marshall.
