This will involve set up, adjusting, maintaining, and configuring processing equipment according to assigned specifications, and regular communication with production personnel and supervisors and the completion of required paperwork. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Turns on all support equipment necessary to run the facility as needed. Must do visual inspections and complete documentation during the run to insure defect free work. Load corrugate, labels, bottles/cans, glue, carriers etc… in appropriate machines. Performs minor package change-overs on equipment as required, as well as change- over to proper raw material. Performs preventative maintenance on equipment with regards to cleaning and clearing them of debris and materials. Assist line mechanics in machinery repair or other tasks as/if needed. Must insure that all equipment is on and functioning properly prior to starting a run. Air is on, all conveyors are on. Must do visual inspection of boxes to insure proper box/tray is used and the graphics on the box/tray are acceptable. Watch flow of materials, i.e. Cans/bottles/boxes/trays, etc… into appropriate machine. Clear jams if necessary. Must insure proper coding is on the bottle, cans, boxes/trays, and if applicable the graphics are acceptable. Must insure closures and lids are properly applied. Verify flavor and size according to schedule. Report any major defects to the Lead person and/or Manager. Monitor the machine while running. Check to see that all bottles, cans are packed into the box correctly. Fill glue pot's as necessary. Verify case code is correct as scheduled. Clear your machine of all products at end of each run and at the end of your shift. Must follow the work rules at all times. GMP compliance MUST be adhered to at all times. JOB SUMMARY: The person who occupies this position is expected to adjust gluing machines in order to process a flat carton order and oversee its production (complex glue experience a plus). JOB FUNCTIONS: Job functions include, but are not limited to, the following. * The operator is responsible for adjusting glue machinery to fit the particular style of carton being processed. * Once production begins, the operator is responsible for maintaining machinery at optimum speed. When malfunctions occur, the operator is to be able to detect the cause and make appropriate adjustments as quickly as possible. * The operator is responsible for the members of the crew working on gluer machinery. Is fully responsible in ensuring team members are working efficiently and safely. The operator is also responsible for training feeder/catcher trainees as necessary. * Must assume duties of the Feeder or Inspector when those persons are on breaks (see job description for Feeder/Catcher). The Operator performs the activities of Feeder/Inspector for approximately 2 hours per day. * Responsible for performing maintenance duties on gluer machinery; greasing, oiling, blowing off machinery, glue pot maintenance, bearing and belt replacement, and cleaning parts. * Able to maintain written and electronic (SAP) records of quality and production, and Ignition software. Operator goes through hourly statistical measurements (carton alignment, edge caliper, opening force, glue length, etc.) * Responsible for making labels per customer specs. * Ability and Positive attitude to teach and help fellow operators to troubleshoot all problems when called upon to do so. 1. Safely and efficiently run and manage production processes ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 1. Safe and efficient operation of production equipment and processes for which the associate has been qualified for 2. Maintain and report all production, efficiency, scrap, and capability data on a daily basis, per the requirements of the job assigned 3. Understand and adhere to all job instructions for any production process for which the associate has been qualified on or is training on 4. Observe and support all Sanoh America safety, housekeeping, and conduct policies 5. Understand and maintain all quality specifications for all production processes for which the associate has been qualified on or for which they are being trained on 6. Train for additional production processes, as required by supervisor or designee 7. Train other Sanoh America associates on any production process, as required by supervisor or designee 8. Use of all personal protective equipment required per the job or per general Sanoh America policies REQUIRED EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE 1. Training and qualification on production jobs assigned. REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES 1. General understanding of metric length measurement; specifically measuring length in millimeters 2. Basic reading and/or comprehension skills; able to read and/or understand job instructions and safety requirements 3. Basic math skills REQUIRED DECISION-MAKING AND ORGANIZATION IMPACT 1. Inspect tubing for defects, and measure tubing using gauges, templates, or other measuring instruments to determine whether the material meets customer requirements - If decisions made are not effective, likely results include higher scrap rate, inefficiency at downstream operations, and higher chance of defective parts getting to the customer. 2. Understand job instructions for manufacturing processes - If decisions and actions are not effective, likely results include inefficiency, process downtime and repairs, higher scrap, and poor quality. REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS 1. This position reports to the Production Supervisor. WORKING CONDITIONS 1. Plant floor. 2. Overtime of varying levels may be required with this position.
