GUSD requires temporary assistance to implement the central kitchen. The Gustine Unified School District, the California School Employees Association and its Gustine Chapter No. 539 have mutually agreed that there's going to be a need of time to assess and determine the staffing needs and staffing hours. The district will temporarily classify three food service employees as "cooks." Their daily hours will range from five to six hours daily during the school year. GUSD will solicit volunteers based on District seniority. Additionally, one food service employee will be temporarily classified as a "delivery driver/ extra help food service worker." GUSD will solicit volunteers based on District seniority. The pay will remain the same, hours may be increased until the District is able to determine the need. In the event the increase of hours is to the Cook position, all three (3) Cooks will get the increase in hours. If the District determines there isn't a need for all three (3) Cooks, the additional hours will be offered in order of District seniority. These temporary positions will not affect the employee's current position in the District or their seniority in any other positions they may hold. Any work completed in this temporary role will not be considered in evaluations for their regular position and will not accrue seniority. The employee will return to their regular job classification as of June 30, 2025. Positions and hours increases are short-term until June 30, 2025.
