Cookout was founded in the year 1989.
The first Cook Out location opened in Greensboro, North Carolina in 1989.
The company opened its first out-of-state store in Spartanburg, South Carolina, on July 30, 2010.
Since most of the operations of the company were concentrated inside the state of North Carolina, the first out of state restaurant established by the company was in South Carolina, in the year 2010.
At the very end of 2011, Cook Out opened restaurants in Columbia, South Carolina; Blacksburg, Virginia; and Radford, Virginia.
Then the following year and by the year 2012, the company also opened its stores in Columbia, Blacksburg, Virginia and Radford.
In 2016, Cook Out expanded into the state of Mississippi with stores in Oxford, Jackson, Hattiesburg, and Starkville, and the company's first Alabama location, in Tuscaloosa.
As of the year 2019, the company has opened itself another store in the state of Montgomery, USA, and is also planning to open stores in Birmingham as well.
