Responsibilities
Chiller Maintenance & Repair: Perform comprehensive maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs on air-cooled, water-cooled, screw, and centrifugal chillers.
Large RTU Diagnostics & Repair: Diagnose and repair large rooftop units (RTUs) weighing 20 to 200+ tons, ensuring high system performance.
Boiler & Mechanical System Repair: Service and repair commercial boilers and other major mechanical equipment as part of integrated HVAC systems.
VRF Systems Expertise: Troubleshoot and repair Variable Refrigerant Flow (VRF) systems to ensure system efficiency.
Manufacturer Training Application: Provide expert service by leveraging manufacturer-specific training from companies such as Trane, Carrier, York, and Mitsubishi.
Safety & Compliance: Follow all safety guidelines and ensure compliance with industry regulations during job tasks.
Documentation & Client Communication: Accurately document all service activities, maintain detailed records, and communicate clearly with clients to ensure satisfaction.
Qualifications
Minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience in chiller service, repair, and teardown.
EPA Universal Certification is required.
Demonstrated ability to diagnose and repair large RTUs (20-200+ tons), boilers, VRF systems, and other advanced HVAC equipment.
Manufacturer training and certifications from Trane, Carrier, York, Daikin, Mitsubishi, or equivalent preferred.
Strong troubleshooting skills with the ability to work independently.
A clean driving record is required.
Excellent communication skills and a customer-focused attitude.

Either: 1. One year of full-time paid experience employed by the County of Sacramento in the class of Food Service Cook.
Or: 2. Two years of full-time paid cooking experience in a commercial or institutional kitchen.
Education Substitution: Education or training from an accredited college, training school, business school or occupational training program that is directly related to the cooking and/or food service program knowledge and abilities above may be substituted for up to one (1) year of the required experience in Pattern 2. The basis for determining equivalency is: 30 semester units (45 quarter units) equal one year of experience. Completion of training courses which do not have semester unit values are equated to semester units on the basis of: 15 clock hours of class equal one (1) semester unit.
Note: If the word "experience" is referenced in the minimum qualifications, it means full-time paid experience unless the minimum qualification states that volunteer experience is acceptable. Part-time paid experience may be accumulated and pro-rated to meet the total experience requirements.

General Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications
Either: 1. One year of full-time paid experience employed by the County of Sacramento in the class of Food Service Worker.
Or: 2. One year of full-time, paid or volunteer cooking experience in a commercial or institutional kitchen.
Education Substitution: Education or training from an accredited college, training school, business school or occupational training program that is directly related to the cooking and/or food service program knowledge and abilities above may be substituted for the required experience on the following basis: 30 semester units (45 quarter units) equal one year of experience. Completion of training courses which do not have semester unit values are equated to semester units on the basis of: 15 clock hours of class equal one (1) semester unit.
Note: If the word "experience" is referenced in the minimum qualifications, it means full-time paid experience unless the minimum qualification states that volunteer experience is acceptable. Part-time paid experience may be accumulated and pro-rated to meet the total experience requirements.
General Requirements
Criminal History and Background Checks: The County may access criminal history information on candidates who have accepted a conditional offer of appointment for the above class consistent with the provisions of Board of Supervisors Resolution No. 82-602, Personnel Policies and Procedure B-5 and applicable federal and state law. The County may also conduct a background check on the candidate prior to appointment to a position within this class. The background check may include personal and professional reference checks, credit history check, Social Security Number verification, professional license/registration verification, military service information and driving history. Information obtained in the course of this background check will be considered by the appointing authority in the selection process.
