Job Summary
Prepare ingredients for cooking, including portioning, chopping, and storing food. Pull food from freezer storage to thaw in the refrigerator. Weigh, measure, and mix ingredients according to recipes or personal judgment. Prepare and cook food according to recipes, quality standards, presentation standards, and food preparation checklist. Monitor food quality while preparing food. Test foods to determine if they have been cooked sufficiently, using methods such as tasting, smelling, or piercing them with utensils. Ensure proper portion, arrangement, and food garnish to be served. Serve food in proper portions onto proper receptacle. Use kitchen tools safely and appropriately. Wash and disinfect kitchen area, tables, tools, knives, and equipment. Check and ensure the correctness of the temperature of appliances and food. Notify manager if a product does not meet specifications. Communicate any assistance needed during busy periods.

Overview
The Cook is responsible for preparing menu items utilizing cooking equipment in a fast-paced environment. The Cook must adhere to high food quality standards to ensure guest satisfaction. Portion control, food waste and sanitation are additional areas that the Cook must be aware of while operating in the kitchen.
This role pays an hourly rate of $20.00-$25.00

Responsibilities
Responsible for cooking and packaging food product which is prepared to order or kept warm until sold.
Receives verbal orders from the front counter staff for food product requirements for guest orders.
Responsible for maintaining quality and production standards on all menu items. Food must be fresh and of high quality when served to the guests.
Responsible for portion control and serving temperatures of all products served in the concession stand.
Responsible for cleaning, stocking and restocking of workstations and displays.
Responsible for operating large-volume cooking equipment such as grills, deep-fat fryers and ovens.
Ensures that all work areas and equipment are clean, food products are properly stored, utensils are clean and put away and floor is swept and mopped at end of shift. The Cook must be checked out before ending the shift by the Floor Supervisor to ensure the concession stand meets cleanliness standards.
Maintains sanitation, health and safety standards in work areas.
Must show demonstrated ability to meet the company standard for excellent attendance.
Qualifications

As a mandated reporter, report any suspected or alleged child abuse or neglect.
Interact with the children, with respect, affection, and at their eye level.
Use appropriate guidance techniques with children, defining and maintaining clear, consistent and fair limits for classroom behavior, using redirection and encouragement of appropriate behavior.
Responsible for the daily maintenance of children's rosters, changing logs and daily reports.
Maintain records of attendance and sign-in/out sheet

Qualifications
Minimum Education and Experience:
Any combination equivalent to one year commercial or institutional cooking experience
Experience in planning and preparing nutritionally based meals for children in a child care setting.
Basic training in food safety and nutrition.
Preferred
Any combination equivalent to three years commercial or institutional cooking experience.
One year or more experience in planning and preparing nutritionally based meals for children in a child care setting
Advanced training in food safety and nutrition.
Licenses/ Certifications Required:
Current Maricopa County Food Handler Card
Maintain a current Food Manager Card
Requirements:
Must satisfy Department of Health Services (DHS) licensure requirements for valid First Aid and Infant & Child CPR certifications
Must satisfy Arizona Department of Health Childcare licensing training regulations (AZDHS)
Class One Fingerprint Clearance
Must obtain Food Managers Card within 90 days of hire
Negative results of a Mantoux TB test
Must be 18 years of age or older
Immunization verification
