The Gustine Unified School District, the California School Employees Association and its Gustine Chapter No. 539 have mutually agreed that there's going to be a need of time to assess and determine the staffing needs and staffing hours. The district will temporarily classify three food service employees as "cooks." Their daily hours will range from five to six hours daily during the school year. GUSD will solicit volunteers based on District seniority. Additionally, one food service employee will be temporarily classified as a "delivery driver/ extra help food service worker." GUSD will solicit volunteers based on District seniority. The pay will remain the same, hours may be increased until the District is able to determine the need. In the event the increase of hours is to the Cook position, all three (3) Cooks will get the increase in hours. Work Schedules Weather, snow conditions and the number of guests play a large role in the work scheduling of Bear Valley employees. When conditions are normal, you may be expected to work 40 up to 48 hours per week, including weekends and holidays. You must arrange for transportation to work so that you arrive at your designated workstation at the scheduled time. Keep in mind that you will often be required to drive on hilly, snowpacked, and icy road. Working Conditions At any time during the ski season, Bear Valley employees are often required to perform their tasks in high winds, heavy snowfalls, low visibility, rain, and extremely cold or warm temperatures.
