After completing Recruit Training, CSs attend a seven-week A school in Fort Lee, VA, where they learn food preparation, nutrition, and dining service. CSs can earn college credits through the American Council on Education for courses taken in this rating. Additionally, the United States Naval Community College (USNCC) offers degree

Job Description
Girl Scouts San Diego is seeking PT Kitchen Assistants to support the weekend food service operations for our camps located in the beautiful mountain town of Julian, CA.
Kitchen Assistants will assist with preparing and serving meals for up to 150 youth, adult volunteers, and camp staff on occasional weekends, including Friday evenings through Sunday mornings. Kitchen Assistants' key responsibilities will include food preparation (slicing and chopping ingredients), setup and breakdown of dining areas, cleaning and sanitizing dishes, kitchen supplies and equipment, stocking/restocking kitchen and food supplies, adhering to proper food handling and safety guidelines, and other duties to ensure a positive dining experience.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent
At least 18 years of age
Experience working in a commercial kitchen or food service environment is a plus.
Current Food Handlers Card and CPR/First Aid Certification required
Ability to work on a team in a fast-paced environment and follow and take direction.
Must be able and willing to work in an overnight camp environment in Julian with varying weather conditions and temperatures.
Must be able to walk on uneven terrain, stand for long periods of time, able to lift and/or push up to 25lbs.
Reliable transportation; ability to arrive on time for assigned work shift(s).

Work Hours: Approximately 9-14 hours per scheduled weekend shift
Sample work schedule:
Friday 5-8pm
Saturday 11am-8pm (including 1 hour lunch)
Sunday 7-10am
Position Status: Part-time Occasional (as needed)
Hiring salary range: $20.75 - $24.00 per hour (DOE); room & board and meals available on site in Julian during scheduled work weekends.
