The position will have oversight of 4 OR suites and 1 procedure room, Pre Op, PACU, PAT, and Central Sterile Processing, Education, and the Business office through partnership with the leaders of these areas. The ASC performs outpatient surgery within several specialties including but not limited Plastics surgery, General surgery, ENT, Urology, OMFS, and Breast surgery. The Clinical Director oversees daily practice operations, recruitment, retention, adherence to policies and procedures, supports ongoing education of staff, ensure compliance with policies and procedures, and responsible for fiscal responsibility of unit/department. Directs and coordinates effective operations of the unit/department with 24/7 responsibility to ensure continuity of care and oversight of other management functions. Directs and coordinates quality efforts of the unit/department to align with organizational goals. Ensures delivery of quality patient care and interdepartmental collaboration of best practices Responsible for overseeing the departmental budget to ensure financial accountability for cost effective/efficient provision of care Responsible for supporting a healthy work environment which engages staff and supports professional growth and development Facilitates ongoing education and ensures clinical competency of nursing personnel adherence to nursing policies Responsible for interviewing and onboarding clinical staff Responsible for coordinating with the AVP of Surgical Services the clinical departmental needs according to administrative and patient care guidelines Ensures patient data and medical records are maintained in confidential manner Overview The Cooper Voorhees Surgery Center (VSC) is a hospital-run outpatient surgical center that follows the same clinical standards as Cooper's main surgical facilities in Camden. As a non-24/7 center, all patients return home after their procedures, with any complications routed to Cooper in Camden or the nearest appropriate facility. VSC manages its own pre-admission screening and guides patients through registration, pre-op preparation, anesthesia and surgical care, and recovery in PACU before discharge. This streamlined, patient-focused environment supports high-quality same-day surgical care. Technical Operations: Acts as a technical resource for instrumentation. Evaluates new procedures and instrumentation for implementation. Oversees technical performance of section assuring that results are accurate and turn around is optimal. Develops and reports workload statistics to the Site Manager. Reports Quality Control, Proficiency Testing and Quality Improvement issues to site Manager as requested. Maintains and ensures procedures are performed according to SOP. Ensures result review is performed and associated problems are resolved. Responds to telephone inquiries off hours. Ensures that technical manuals are in compliance with all regulatory agencies. Budget: Assists Manager in preparation of budget (salaries and hours, supplies and purchased services) Monitors and justifies monthly variances. Identifies areas for cost savings within the section. Recommends and justifies capital purchases. Identifies and aids in the justification of new/replacement instrumentation. Recognizes and communicates revenue opportunities. Performs cost analysis for new or existing tests as appropriate. Inventory: Oversees purchasing of supplies. Implements and maintains an Inventory Control System which minimizes cost and improves productivity. Seeks mechanisms to purchase supplies in a cost-effective manner. Evaluates new instrumentation/equipment/product purchases as directed by the Site Manager. Communications: Attends hospital wide committees and staff meetings as scheduled. Communicates laboratory and site issues to site manager. Chairs regularly scheduled staff meetings. Promotes shared values and shared governance throughout the organization. Actively initiates and responds to incident and occurrence reports. Communicates findings and solutions to site Manager. Meets with vendors and technical representatives regarding operational needs. Interfaces and cooperates with other lab management personnel. Competency Testing: Aids in developing protocols to satisfy regulatory requirements. Works with other coordinators and management to ensure compliance. Provides remediation as indicated. Participates in in-services as required. Regulatory Compliance (CAP, CLIA, JCAHO, FDA): Updates and monitors laboratory compliance with regulatory agencies. Coordinates self-inspections and onsite inspections with Manager. Assures all QA/QC logs are reported, reviewed, and maintained as required by regulatory agencies. Safety Criteria: Ensures all staff are in compliance with OSHA, Fire, Disaster, Right to Know and Infection Control policies. Maintains a safe environment in accordance with hospital policies and other regulatory agencies. Demonstrates knowledge of and practices departmental safety procedures, including safe handling of hazardous. Demonstrates practice of institutional, patient, and personnel safety procedures. Complete the mandatory annual training programs addressing those areas appropriate to the section as defined by Human Resources. Education and Training: Must meet current CAP requirements for a laboratory supervisor Bachelor's degree in medical technology, or in a physical, chemical, biological, or clinical laboratory science and 5+ years in high complexity testing in CLIA/CAP environment ASCP, AMT or defined equivalent required or eligible; must pass exam within one year or when eligible per ASCP standards. Experience/Skills Requirement: Minimum of five (5) years clinical laboratory experience Two (2) years of laboratory supervisory experience preferred Proven experience working in a clinical laboratory or healthcare setting, with a solid understanding of laboratory operations and regulatory compliance In-depth knowledge of Clinical Laboratory principles, methodologies, and devices Familiarity with relevant regulatory guidelines (e.g., CLIA, CAP) and accreditation processes. The GI Clincial Supervisor provides coverage and support, under the direction of the practice manager and physician(s) of the practice, to clinical team members to ensure smooth patient flow and physician satisfaction. Is knowledgeable about CLIA and other laboratory requirements as well as practice procedures such as monitoring of medication refrigerator and freezer temperatures. * Ensures that patients do not have access to syringes, needles, or drugs by observing office protocols for securing these items. * Oversees team members and leads by example to ensure patients, their families, visitors, vendors, team members, and physicians are greeted and communicated with in a professional, courteous manner to promote high quality care and superior levels of service. * Assists with accurate and timely processing of accounts payable information, daily deposits, monitoring physician performance and productivity, monthly reports, and providing necessary feedback to improve efficiencies. * Other duties and/or projects as assigned. * Adheres to HMH Organizational competencies and standards of behavior.
