Position Overview:The Chicago White Sox are seeking a Sport Psychology Coordinator to support players and staff with mental health and mental performance needs that impact job-related performance and personal well-being. In this position, you will help develop and implement a comprehensive Mental Performance system across the minor league affiliates, with a particular focus on mental health education and the acculturation process for Latin American players.
Responsibilities:
· Contribute to the strategic development and implementation of systems that enhance mental performance and mental health education across the organization
· Screen for mental health concerns such as depression, anxiety, ADHD, substance abuse, and other mental health disorders under the support of a licensed practitioner
· Serve as primary contact for assisting players and staff in the referral process with EAPs. Identifying offsite treatment and counseling services for athletes who require a higher level of care or specialized mental health care in collaboration with EAPs.
· Provide individual, short- and long-term, multiculturally competent mental health counseling for athletes presenting with diverse concerns. Serviced on-site and virtually (as needed and legally allowed)

· Present psychoeducational workshops to educate staff/players on mental performance topics in addition to providing education related to mental health and well-being to enhance mental health IQ and improve day-to-day functioning
· Function as an integral member of a multidisciplinary sports medicine team including athletic trainers, team physicians, strength coaches, and sport dietitians.
· Provide consultation with the player development staff, including coaches, administrators, and performance staff.
· Assess the acculturation process of Latin American Players from the DR to the complex and gather data to inform best practices within this demographic.
· Develop and support various initiatives to promote overall athlete health, resilience, and acculturation within athletes coming from other countries.
· Manage sensitive and confidential information related to athletes, coaches, and staff utilizing discretion and in accordance with procedures, laws, and ethical codes (ACA, APA, AASP).
· Participate in case management, peer consultation, business meetings, and professional development activities.
· Therapeutic Use Exemption (“TUE”) involvement, evaluation and services as needed.
· Maintain excellent record-keeping and exhibit strong communication skills.
Qualifications:
· Licensed Psychologist
· Completed PhD and/or Master's in Mental Health Counseling or a related psychology field. PhD and/or master's degree in Sport Psychology/High Performance Psychology Preferred
· Current License in Mental Health Counseling or license eligible in AZ, NC, AL, IL
· CMPC or CMPC eligible upon hire
· At least 4-5 years of postgraduate experience providing mental health and/or mental performance services
· Ability to obtain AZ, NC, AL, IL mental health license. PSYPACT or COMPACT eligible preferred
· Qualified applicants are bilingual or have moderate knowledge and understanding of the Spanish language.
· Strong generalist with knowledge and experience in providing mental health counseling and mental performance services to elite athletes (baseball preferred).
· Interpersonal and communication skills required to initiate and foster relationships with athletes, coaches, staff, other clinicians, and various stakeholders.
· Knowledge, skills, and expertise required to provide multicultural-competent clinical services.
· Knowledge and skills related to high performance psychology or familiarity with working in an elite competitive sporting environment required (collegiate, professional, Olympic, etc.)
· Knowledge, skills, and expertise required to proficiently conduct, document, and evaluate individual, crisis intervention, and consultation/outreach.
· Ability to utilize an electronic health record system.
· Ability to effectively communicate and build strong relationships with players, coaches, and staff.
