COPE company history timeline

1993

When Cope transitioned from a junior high to a middle school in 1993, students voted on green and blue as their new school colors.

1999

In 1999, in its second report, COPE issued its Guidelines on Good Publication Practice after broad consultation and workshops at the annual meeting in an attempt to define issues and advice on how to investigate suspected cases.

2006

In 2006, COPE published a series of flowcharts guiding Editors through the steps of due process in dealing with straightforward cases of suspected misconduct.

2008

Harvey Marcovitch took over as Chair of COPE and oversaw COPE being granted charity status in February 2008.

2014

The growth in size of COPE was reflected in the employment of more staff, and the growth in breadth was evident in COPE’s first South American seminar and its first European seminar held outside London, in Brussels, Belgium in 2014.

2018

Continuing COPE’s involvement with universities, a workshop was held with the UK’s Russell Group Integrity Forum in 2018.

2021

Dan Kulp became Chair of COPE in 2021.
