We are seeking a self-motivated Chemistry Lab Technician to join our Lab Operations team. In this role you will assist in laboratory confirmatory analysis of biological fluids including urine, oral fluid (saliva) or hair specimens. This role is also responsible for operating, maintaining and troubleshooting various Auto Chemistry instrumentation.
Shift: PM Shift M-F 6pm-230am
Salary:$20.00 Plus $2.00 Shift Differential for hours worked between 6pm-6am
Primary Responsibilities
* Loads, prepares and extracts specimens using various Auto-Chem Instrumentation.
* Assist in instrument calibration, QC review, and initial analytical review.
* Prepare reagents and buffers as needed.
* Assists with maintaining an adequate inventory of laboratory supplies.
* Responsible for all record keeping associated with specimen preparation, including following chain of custody handling guidelines and storage requirements.
* Conducts safe work practices according to safety protocols, PPE requirements and decontamination procedures.
* Responsible to maintain all safeguards as it pertains to Protected health information (PHI).
Qualifications
* Bachelor?s degree in a science field (Chemistry, Biochemistry, Biology, Microbiology, Pre-med (Biomed), Forensics & Toxicology), REQUIRED.
* Experience as a lab technician, preferred.
* Data entry skills via a keyboard (alpha and numeric) required.
* Strong eye-hand coordination.
* Ability to handle a high-volume environment while maintaining the highest level of quality, required.
* Physical demands required to perform critical tasks in this role include standing for long periods of time, lifting up to 25lbs, bending and carrying.

May participate in publications and presentations as author or co-author.

Analyzes interpret, summarizes, and compiles data.
Operates and maintains equipment and instruments.
May observe MD-patient or MD-human research subject interactions as they pertain directly to research being performed.
Qualifications
Education:
Doctorate (MD, PhD, VMD, or DDS) in the area directly related to the field of research specialization.
Experience and Skills:
Acquires thorough technical and theoretical knowledge of research project and objectives during one to five (1-5) year post-doctoral appointment.
Works independently on research projects designed by a mentor (typically the PI) within area of specialization.
Demonstrated aptitude to perform experimental protocols and procedures, including detailed data collection, analysis, operation, and maintenance of specialized equipment.

The Animal Laboratory Technician II (ALTII) is an advanced-level position for technicians with experience in the husbandry of laboratory animals. Job responsibilities include knowledge and application of relevant laboratory animal medicine standards, rules, and regulations. The ALT II performs husbandry tasks for all species housed in Cedars-Sinai Medical Center (CSMC) facilities and veterinary related procedures as trained by the Clinical Staff. Husbandry tasks include daily health case observations of animals and reporting of cases directly to the Clinical Staff, sanitization of primary enclosures, food and water checks, general animal room maintenance, and bar coding for animal census. The ALTII will also assist the ALTIII and/or the Supervisor with training of new Technicians, managing vendor deliveries of animals/equipment/supplies, and irradiation confirmation of all incoming diets. As an advanced-level position, the ALTII must be proficient with the husbandry of all animals housed in CM and possess knowledge of CM standard operating procedures (SOPs), policies, and procedures.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
Performs routine and special feeding, watering, handling (safely transferring animals from one enclosure to another) and changes cages or primary enclosure for all species housed in the vivarium including USDA covered species.
Processes service requests submitted by research staff to provide special diets and medicated water to animals in the vivarium.
Assists clinical and research staff with animal handling and provides treatments (including basic, intermediate and advanced) for rodents, this may include procedures such as SQ, IP injections and topical applications.
Performs veterinary related tasks post training by Clinical Staff and maintains clinical records as required; rodent breeding tasks may be performed as needed.
Provides species-specific environmental enrichment to animals according to CM standards. In addition, supports environmental enrichment initiatives, conducts assessments for new items and provides feedback for all species.
Receives animals from vendors, assists the Animal Care Coordinator with animal delivery reports and identification of obvious health abnormalities and deviations from the ordered type, quantity or sex.
Performs barcoding scanning of animal cage cards for billing and census purposes, participate in census reconciliation, and issue census reports as needed.
Works with ALTIII to audit inventory of feed and bedding, supplies and equipment.
Stores and dispenses special diets ordered by Research Staff; this includes appropriate labeling, assigning secondary containers, and following proper storage conditions.
Assists with decontamination of Vivarium spaces as needed (after training and proficiency assessment).
Supports ALTIII and Supervisors with on-the-floor vivarium training for laboratory staff including the use of Animal Transfer Stations (ATS)/Biological Safety Cabinets (BSC), proper micro-isolator technique, facility workflow, and large animal species, among other techniques. Additionally, assists the ALTIII and Supervisors with training of new CM employees hired in the classification of ALTI and ALTII.
Responsible for independently identifying additional tasks (other than those assigned) which need to be performed.
Qualifications
Education:
A High School Diploma/GED is required. A bachelor's degree is preferred with relevant coursework in laboratory animal sciences.
Licenses and Certifications:
Assistant Laboratory Animal Tech (ALAT) from the AALAS is required. Laboratory Animal Technician (LAT) from the AALAS is preferred.
Valid and current driver's license is required.
Experience and Skills:
Three (3) years of Laboratory Animal Science experience is required.
Ability to learn, apply and maintain compliance with the rules and regulations governing the care and use of animals in research.
Ability to provide and/or support a level of work excellence and accuracy; recognize and address flaws or errors that others may overlook. Ability to document tasks in an orderly, timely and accurately manner.

Day (United States of America) Job Summary: Under the general supervision of the Director of Education Operations / Office of Academic Affairs, the Bioskills Laboratory Coordinator will manage day-to-day activities in the Wellstar Anatomical Sciences and Research Laboratory. Responsibilities include laboratory maintenance; course scheduling and support, laboratory supply assurance, biologic inventory control, and project development. Additional focus will support resident and faculty needs for training and research using anatomical specimens, teaching needs and facilitating communication in a timely manner through close work with GME, the Orthopedic Residency Program and other bioskills program needs throughout the system for laboratory space utilization. Other duties that may be allocated are consistent with the GME department mission; these may include grant writing assistance; participation in initiatives to develop CME and remote participation potential, manuscript preparation including literature review, and administrative management of the manuscript submission process. Responsible for assuring the integrity of project/research data, including data extraction, storage, manipulation, processing, and analysis. Collecting and collating appropriate data for usage in databases. Coding accurately variables from original information or data and completing statistical analyses as required. Assist researchers with preparing and making presentations, monitoring and maintain the quality nature of databases systems and records related to nursing research. Analyzing data with standard statistical methods, interpreting results, and providing written summary of data analyses. Produces and analyzes data in several formats for different audiences. Trains users on databases and reporting tools. Follows HIPPA guidelines. Assist in simulation center and with special projects as needed. Core Responsibilities and Essential Functions: Manage day-to-day bio skills labs duties *Coordination of proper scheduling for use of lab; event planning, event set up, specimen procurement, equipment rentals, and processing of materials for return shipments. *Maintain a safe and clean lab environment including cleaning of surgical instruments and equipment and proper disposal of biohazardous materials. *Ensure that equipment, freezer, and supplies are maintained and serviced as required. *Catalog and track cadaver specimens ensuring proper and ethical delivery, storage, preparation, and cremation/return. *Work alongside physicians and vendors preparing instrument tables and participating in bioskills activities. *Manage lab inventory to ensure proper quantities of instruments, equipment, disposable goods, and specimens are readily available *Ensure specimen vendor provides all appropriate paperwork for specimens and coordinate drop off/pickup times and schedules. *Maintains regulatory compliance such as OSHA, etc. *Ensure all lab events are executed safely and expertly Manages Project/Research Database & Reporting * Assuring the integrity of project/research data, including data extraction, storage, manipulation, and processing. * Collecting and collating appropriate data for usage in databases and developing reports. * Coding accurately variables from original information or data. * Assisting with presentations, monitoring and maintaining the quality of database systems. * Transcription of narrative data. * Prepares data in various formats for different audiences. A Postdoctoral Scientist position is immediately available to work on projects related to microglia in neurodegeneration or in projects related to growth factor and tyrosine kinase receptor signaling. The Tourtellotte Lab studies the role of microglia immune function in neurodegenerative diseases, such as Alzheimer's Disease (Gomez et al., Nat. Aging, 5(7): 1280), and the role of growth factor signaling in peripheral neuropathy and tyrosine kinase receptor signaling (Li et al., J. Clin. Invest., 130(5):2478; Gosh and Tourtellotte, Ann. Rev. Pathology, 16:487; Jackson et al., Development 141(12):2452). Depending on the relevant expertise and specific interests, the successful candidate will be a leader of an independent research project but can contribute to all projects in the lab with co-authorship on manuscripts. Working independently, but in close cooperation and consultation with the Principal Investigator (PI) and other Research Scientists in the lab, the Postdoctoral Scientist will perform routine and complex laboratory procedures throughout the training period. Primary Responsibilities
Performs routine operations including the opening of sample bags, creating accessions and batches, orders proper test(s), applies bar code labels.

Separates out samples that require additional attention.
