Cornerstone Care company history timeline
What started out as a dream became reality in the mid 1980's with the creation of services for one county.
Cornerstone was first established in 1980 by Nick Baxter in the North East of Scotland to support adults, children and young people who had a variety of needs including physical and learning disabilities, autism, and dementia.
Cornerstone Hospice was founded in 1981 by a group of nurses in the Eustis, FL community.
With the help of donors, the Tavares Hospice House opened in February 1991.
In 2001, he joined PROTEA Behavioral Health Services where he served as the organization's Chief Financial Officer.
In 2006 he helped with the sale of PROTEA BHS to a large non-profit healthcare organization located in Southern Maine.
By 2010, Cornerstone grew to its current service area of seven rather large and populous counties in Florida, and four of Georgia's largest counties.
