TITLE: Special Education Paraeducator
SALARY: $11.00/hour
TERM OF EMPLOYMENT: 7 hours/day, 9 months/year (benefits-eligible)
REPORTS TO: Assigned Teacher and Building Principal
EVALUATION: Performance of this job will be evaluated according to the Classified Handbook by the Special Education teacher(s) and principal(s) in conjunction with the Assistant Director of Student Services.
JOB GOAL: To assist the special education teacher in working with individual students or small groups to help them achieve the skill levels commensurate with their capabilities.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1. Work with teachers and students in carrying out instructional programs defined and prescribed in the Individual Education Programs.
2. Deliver specially designed instruction to reinforce new and/or current skills as trained, directed and supervised by supervising teacher.
3. Assume the responsibility to ask supervising teacher about specific daily duties and expectations.
4. Assist in preparation, care and use of instructional materials and equipment.
5. Assist with general classroom management.
6. Assist with clerical duties, such as preparing instructional materials, typing, copying etc.
7. Assist in the supervision of special education students in the lunchroom, hallways, restrooms, on the playground, field trips, assemblies, and as directed.
8. Work with the support service staff to implement goals on the Individual Education Plans (IEP).
9. Serve as the chief source of information and help to any substitute teacher assigned in the absence of the regular teacher.
10. Assume supervisory role if it is necessary for the teacher to be out of the room for a short period of time.
11. Maintain the same high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality of information about students as is expected of certified teachers.
12. Attend staffing and Individual Education Program meetings at the teacher's request.
13. Identify, observe and record data necessary for obtaining goals and objectives.

The primary responsibility of the position is to score/complete each game using our DiamondKast software. This includes scoring every play of the game and getting every substitution change and pitch recorded. This also includes taking ample scouting notes on the players and recording each pitch type and velocity. These tasks are completed using the DiamondKast application on a provided iPad.
The other main responsibility of this position is to make sure everything runs smoothly at the field to which you are assigned. In most cases, the scout/field manager will be the only person present from Perfect Game. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, confirming the field is ready for play (most fields will have a grounds crew present to prep the field), confirm umpires are on the property prior to games and on field prior to the start time, confirm both teams are present and ready to start play at the official start time, and to make sure all games start on time.
All scout/field managers are to present themselves in a professional manner with teams, parents, players, scouts, college coaches, umpires, field crews, etc. You are representing Perfect Game at these events and there will be no exceptions.

2. Physical Requirements/Environmental Conditions:
a. Sit and/or stand for prolonged periods.
b. Manually move, lift, carry, pull, or push heavy objects or materials.
c. Ability to manually lift a maximum of 60 pounds.
d. Stoop, kneel, crawl, bend, turn, and reach, climb and balance.

e. A 500-yard minimum swim is required every other week and the ability to perform first aid and CPR to staff and patrons is required.
f. Swim well enough to maintain required Certificates
g. Requires a minimum level of cardiovascular fitness to teach water fitness classes.
h. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
i. Work indoors and outdoors year-round.
j. Work in noisy, crowded, stressful environments.
k. Work in and around dust, fumes, and odors.
l. Manage physical and emotional stress.
m. Requires regular attendance and/or physical presence at the job.
General Responsibilities:
Comply with all TAC, TRC, and activities comply with all federal, district polices, rules and regulations.
Ability to work occurs during Turner Aquatic Center pool hours and includes weekdays and weeknights as well as weekends between 5 AM and 9 PM.
Report to work in required attire and ready to begin shift.
Performs a variety of miscellaneous duties such as answering the phone, conducting classes, setting up or cleaning up for party reservations, etc. as assigned by supervisory personnel.
Ensure TAC facilities are properly maintained.
Watch for unsafe conditions or practices and recommend corrective action.
Inspect the TAC prior to each activity.
Notify direct supervisor and TAC Coordinator of any accident or incident that involves a water rescue, health incident, accident, property damage, or any matter that could result in parent or media interest.
Keep abreast of new information, innovative ideas, and techniques.
Implement and follow all district health and safety policies, including all precautions of the Bloodborne Pathogens Exposure Control Plan.
Keep records and student, family, employee information confidential.
Report any concerns of abuse, neglect, or a child in need of care to your direct supervisor, TAC Coordinator or Division of Children and Families.
Other duties as assigned by the TAC Coordinator, or direct supervisor, which are consistent with the general requirements and essential functions of the position.
Terms of Employment: Part-time, non-exempt
Evaluation: Performance effectiveness will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of Kansas Statutes and Board of Education Policy.
