The medical director of VITAS fulfills two primary functions, each of which is expected to consume approximately one half of the time and work effort of the position:
The medical director has overall responsibility for medical direction of the care and treatment of patients and their families rendered by the hospice care team, and shall consult and cooperate with the patient's attending physician. The medical director provides physician direction and guidance to the hospice program, its physician employees, and other staff and volunteers to assure the maintenance of quality standards of care for patients and families.
The medical director educates practicing physicians and others engaged in health care services regarding the hospice program and its potential benefits to patients.
In fulfilling the two primary functions explained above, the medical director performs the following duties:
Quality of Clinical Care
Assure appropriate evaluation and certification of terminal prognosis of patients.
Assure the quality of initial plans of care.
Assure the quality of comprehensive plans of care.
Assure the accuracy of documentation.
Review revocations.
Review recertifications of terminal prognosis.
Review the quality of pain and symptom management.
Provide medical expertise on pain and symptom management to admission and patient care staff.

In Wisconsin the medical director also supervises the following functions of the consultant pharmacist:
Ensure medications are utilized within accepted standards of practice.
Ensure a system is developed and maintained that documents the disposal of controlled drugs.
Community Relations
Educate community physicians on the principles of palliative medicine.
Provide resource and consultative support to community physicians in palliative medicine.
Attend and present at medical staff and other medical community conferences on palliative medicine.
Serve as liaison between the hospice and community physicians.
Make regular contacts with practicing physicians to introduce the hospice program, to educate physicians regarding individuals for whom hospice may be appropriate, and to answer clinical and other concerns of physicians with respect to hospice.
Assist in introducing the VITAS program to long term care providers, managed care providers, hospitals, and others.
Conduct educational seminars, in services, and presentations to physicians, nurses, and other health care audiences whose support for and understanding of the hospice program is integral to assuring that hospice services are made accessible to patients and families.
Education and Research
Assist in the development of and actively participate in clinical training for all hospice patient care and admissions personnel.
Actively participate in medical and nursing education programs on palliative medicine that may be provided by VITAS to medical and nursing colleges in the community.
Assist in the development of and actively participate in research protocols on both the local and corporate level.
Be a member of and participate in professional organizations related to palliative medicine.
QUALIFICATIONS
Knowledge of the principles and practice of primary medical care, with at least a working knowledge of oncology.
Knowledge of palliative care with particular emphasis on control of symptoms associated with terminal illness.
Ability to work collaboratively with patients' attending physicians to implement the hospice program and effect optimum medical care.
Ability to work collaboratively with hospice employees and volunteers as part of an interdisciplinary team.

PRIMARY JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Responsible for planning and conducting in-person visits, predominantly focused on key stakeholders at proceduralist physician offices to increase selection of centers to perform cases at. This role will receive ongoing guidance from Business Development leadership on providers of focus and productivity expectations.

Prepare and present sales reports, measuring case volume growth, identifying trends, lessons learned, opportunities and areas for improvement to achieve facility and / or market goals.
Continuously modify and execute business development tactics to ensure optimal business outcomes, based on feedback from providers and facility leaders.
Maintain latest knowledge of the market hospital, ambulatory surgery and provider landscape, in your defined market service area.

Responsibilities:
* Provide one-to-one-behavior intervention services to individuals with behavioral challenges
* Provides/assists with daily program activities in the areas of self-help, communication, social, cognitive, motor and behavior and crisis intervention
* Assist client with personal care activities including bathing, oral hygiene, preparation and feeding of meals, dressing and undressing, ambulation and other activities as needed
* Implement and collect data of the behaviors and goals outlined in the Behavior Support Plan

Requirements:
* High school diploma or GED equivalent
* Previous experience working in an educational or healthcare setting preferred

* Current in-person CPR/ First Aid certification for Adult & Children
* Updated TB test

Responsibilities of BCBA overseeing Behavior Respite Services:
+ Develops treatment plans that recommend individualized, evidenced based, and focus on reducing challenging behavior, and/or maintaining low rate of challenging behavior by implementing schedules/routines that are client preferred.
+ Help families by modeling the implementation of effective behavior change procedures. (FCT, DRA without Extinction, Toileting programs, schedule thinning/demand fading, etc.) as requested
+ Service funding comes from partnerships with local regional centers to support individuals with developmental disabilities across all ages and disabilities that are eligible for Regional Center services.
+ Provide supervisory oversight to Behavioral direct care staff
+ Monitors treatment progress and effectiveness to update treatment plans to support clients' needs and learning style
Program Objectives:
+ Assisting clients with basic self-help needs while promoting highest level of independence
+ Assisting clients with socialization skills, as appropriate
+ Continuing daily routines that the family is currently performing and provide families/caregivers with a break from the duties of care.
+ Ensure safety supervision, assist with meal preparation, feeding, toileting, bathing, dressing, medication reminders, and light housekeeping
Qualifications:
+ Provide an active license or certification in good standing (e.g. Board Certified Behavior Analyst, Licensed Behavior Analyst, Licensed Clinical Social Worker, Licensed Family & Marriage Therapist, or Board Certified Assistant Behavior Analyst)
+ Have excellent written and verbal communication skills
+ Demonstrate critical thinking skills
+ Supervisory and behavioral assessment experience preferred
+ Experience providing behavioral services to children, and adults preferred
+ Experience in quality management preferred
+ Proficiency in the English

Program Scheduler

Process new referrals that arrive directly to the program in the manor best fitting the needs of the referral source.
Participates in morning check in meeting with designated Admissions Coordinator to review staffing/scheduling needs for the day. Call to be completed prior to 9am local time.
Participates in morning check-in meeting with Admissions Manager to review staffing/scheduling needs for the day. Check-in to be completed prior to 9am local time.
Provides a concierge level of customer service to every caller by implementing the VITAS Call Center Quality Management standards of call scripting
Supports Admissions team to exceed program goals.
Establishes a rapport and maintains an effective relationship with all internal and external Vitas customers.
Enters accurate information to support data integrity in VITAS computer applications.
Responds accurately to all questions received regarding services provided by Vitas.
Offers and/or confirms a same day appointment and/or the appointment time that is as close as possible based on the request of the patient and/or referral source to ensure a timely admission.
Escalates matters to Admissions Manager when assistance or clarification is needed.
Follows the VITAS Admissions Standard for contingency staffing
Participates in ongoing training and development based on the changing healthcare environment.
Notifies Admissions Staff of all scheduled appointments within their working hours of 8am-8pm local time.
Notifies VITAS Marketing Representatives of all new referrals within their working hours of 8am-8pm local time.
Utilizes Appointments Everywhere to effectively facilitate the scheduling/updating of appointments.
QUALIFICATIONS
Two or more years related experience in medical terminology and/or in a call center environment
Ability to attain goals in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
Ability to exercise considerable judgment and discretion in establishing and maintaining strong partnering relationships with internal and external callers
Superior ability to effectively communicate at all levels of the customer interaction to include both verbally and in writing to provide a concierge level of service
Working knowledge of computers, internet access, and the ability to navigate within an automated systems and a variety of software packages, and type minimum 45 wpm
Prior experience in working collaboratively with other functional leaders to drive action plans.
Must be highly organized and able to manage multiple responsibilities and work on various assignments simultaneously
Model positive behaviors that are focused on supporting: integrity, valuing diversity, innovation, building relationships, customer focus and teamwork.
Ability to communicate tactfully with department heads, managers, coworkers and vendors to resolve problems and negotiate resolutions
EDUCATION
Completion of high school or basic education equivalency preferred
Bilingual in Spanish/English a plus
Medical or business office education or training desired
