Correct Craft company history timeline

1925

Walter C. Meloon founded the Florida Variety Boat Company in 1925 in Pine Castle, Florida.

1930

In 1930, the company changed its name to Pine Castle Boat and Construction Company.

1936

By 1936, the primary focus of the company was the construction of powerboats.

1942

In 1942 the company opened a second plant in Titusville, Florida to manufacture boats through government contracts for the war effort.

1945

In 1945, American troops had reached the Rhine River but lacked the transport boats needed to cross it.

1947

The company was incorporated in 1947.

1957

The company received a government contract for 3000 boats in 1957.

1958

A creditor advised that Correct Craft seek protection under Chapter 11 of the Bankruptcy Act which would allow the company to continue operations, which it accepted in August 1958.

1961

Correct Craft released its first Ski Nautique boat, the first fiberglass ski boat, designed by Leo Bentz, in 1961.

1965

Correct Craft was released from Chapter 11 at the start of the year in 1965.

1986

In 1986, SeaWorld signed a contract with Correct Craft to supply Ski Nautique boats for ski shows at their marine parks.

1995

In 1995, Suzuki obtained domestic rights as the only distributor of Correct Craft boats in Japan in exchange for Suzuki carrying only Correct Craft boats.

1997

The Total Surface Control (TSC) hull design was released for the Ski Nautique in 1997.

2001

Nautique unveils the Ski Nautique 2001 and receives rave reviews.

2003

Since 2003, CorrectCraftFan.com has been the foremost Correct Craft reference site, and simply provides the best used Correct Craft buying and selling experience anywhere.

2005

In 2005, construction began for Nautique’s new 217,000 square-foot manufacturing plant located on the outskirts of Central Florida.

2008

The Meloon family sold its stock in the company in 2008, and Ambassador Enterprises obtained full ownership of the company.

2010

In 2010, following the Great Recession, Correct Craft began execution of a new growth strategy that resulted in the acquisition of the following brands:

2012

Under its subsidiary brand, Aktion Parks, Correct Craft acquired the Orlando Watersports Complex (OWC), the world's premier cable wake park, in August 2012.

2013

In September 2013, Correct Craft announced that Aktion Parks was building the Miami Watersports Complex, a 90-acre water sports park.

2014

Aktion Parks second park, Miami Watersports Complex (MWC) broke ground on July 1, 2014.

In October 2014, Correct Craft acquired PCM Marine Engines, Crusader Engines Inc., and Levitator Performance Airboat Engines which operate together as Pleasurecraft Engine Group.

2015

In late March of 2015, the grand opening of MWC was held in conjunction with the first stop of the Monster Energy WWA Wake Park Triple Crown, a three-stop cable wakeboard series where riders competed for individual titles as well as the Wake Park Triple Crown overall series championship.

Correct Craft acquired Bass Cat Boats as well as Yar-Craft, a walleye boat line owned by Bass Cat, in March 2015.

2016

Correct Craft acquired SeaArk Boats, an aluminum finishing boat company based in Monticello, Arkansas, in May 2016.

2017

Correct Craft announced the acquisition of Bryant Boats, based in Sweetwater, Tennessee, in January 2017.

2018

The Bass Nautique 2018 is introduced.

2019

Nautique astonishes the three-event waterski world with the introduction of the all-new 2019 Ski Nautique.

2021

Building upon the dynasty that Nautique created almost a decade ago when the G23 was first introduced, Nautique reinvents 2021 G-Series.
