Job Summary: Provide comprehensive medical care to patients, including primary, acute and chronic treatment, under the supervision of a physician. Evaluate and treat medical conditions using clinical judgment based on diagnoses focusing on positive patient outcomes. Interact and collaborate with internal/external healthcare professionals, facility administration and others in correctional facilities, as needed. Maintain accurate patient medical records complying with federal and state requirements including HIPAA, PREA, etc.
Education/Credentials:
Graduate of an accredited PA school or school of nursing
Master of Science in PhysicianAssistant Medicine, Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN), active RN license, Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) or Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) degree from an accredited school of nursing
Current PA or Nurse Practitioner License (in required state)
Current BLS, DEA (Drug Enforcement Agency) preferred and/or other certification(s)
Experience/Qualifications:
Minimum three years' experience in a clinical setting
Experience providing primary care and diagnostic services
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Critical and analytical thinking skills.
High degree of confidentiality and professionalism.
Ability to communicate (oral and written) with all levels of leadership.

This is a full time APP position that will provide patient services through the performance of patient evaluation, assessment and treatment in the medical office and hospital setting. This position will allow the APP to round on and consult with new & existing patients in the hospital, provide first assist duties during surgical procedures and treat new & existing patients in the clinic setting. The APP works closely with the clinic staff, hospital departments and community agencies.
Group performs robotic cases in Carrollton (da Vinci 5) and Villa Rica (da Vinci Xi). When working weekend shifts there will be one surgeon and one APP on service.
Key Responsibilities:
Treat post op patients including minor issues and education on procedures
Acute care service evaluation and treatment
Care of trauma and general surgery patients throughout the continuum of care
Opportunity to assist in the OR, including first-assist
Respond to Trauma 1 activations in the ED and assist in the resuscitation and stabilization of patient
In-house call coverage while working; taking new consults
Procedures required include: chest tube insertion/removal, central lines, arterial line placement, wound closure, skin biopsies, incision and debridement, assist in surgery
Position Requirements
work with an existing team of 7 surgeons and 3 APP's
Schedule:
Monday - Friday; no weekend or night call requirements
Will work 1:4 weekend inpatient rounding; 2 days off during week when covering weekend
Position will be a mix of inpatient responsibilities, assist in OR and see patients in the clinic.
Will be based primarily in Carrollton and Villa Rica, GA

Job Eligibility Requirements
Education
Completed PhysicianAssistant program in good standing or Master of Nursing with specialization in Nurse Practitioner
Certification/License
Currently hold or be able to obtain a Georgia Nurse Practitioner or PhysicianAssistant License
Currently hold or be able to obtain a Board Certification as Nurse Practitioner
Experience
Open to New graduates or candidates with related General Surgery experience
Qualifications
Able to communicate effectively with medical and hospital staff and various populations in clinics and public screening events.
ACLS recommended.
Additional certification will be required for some specialties (i.e. ACLS, PALS)
Graduate of a recognized PhysicianAssistant program.
Must be capable of dealing tactfully and effectively with patients, family members, other employees and physicians
Must maintain high degree of confidentiality.
Must meet credentialing criteria.
Must possess the cognitive ability to understand patient medical records, physician orders and medical orders to be communicated to patient, hospital and/or other physician.
Must possess the sense or discipline to work in accordance with accepted clinical standards.
Prior experience in a like specialty preferred.
