enforcing traffic and criminal laws, and operating police vehicles when on routine patrol.
II. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

* May have to stand/walk continuously for more than one-half the work shift and walk on

* Prepare interdepartmental memorandums and daily operational reports, as well as
maintain daily logs
* Clean and inspect firearms and perform random equipment inspections
* Provides superior customer service to everyone by responding in a courteous and

III. REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
* Knowledge of laws and departmental rules/regulations/procedures, as well as other
resource materials
* Knowledge of weapon craft and must demonstrate usable knowledge of court
decisions
* Skilled in the use of firearms, as well as non-lethal weapons

IV. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
* Must be a United States citizen
* Must be at least twenty-one (21) years of age
* Minimum uncorrected vision not greater than 20/200 in each eye and
correctable with lenses to 20/20 in each eye. Able to distinguish
between the colors of red, green and amber
* Height and weight in proper proportion. Must be in excellent
cardiovascular physical condition
V. REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
* One (1) year of satisfactory employment as a full- time Certified Police Officer, two
(2) years preferred, clearly indicating the maturity of the applicant.
* Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university; OR
Associate's degree from an accredited college/university, or sixty (60) college credit
hours, or higher. This may also be ninety (90) quarter credits from an accredited
college/university. OR
Thirty (30) college credits from an accredited college/university, or forty-five (45)
quarter credits from an accredited college/university. In this situation, the applicant
must also have two (2) years of active duty military service.
VI. LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS, AND/OR CERTIFICATES
* Applicant must have a current valid driver's license and at least one (1) year of
driving experience. An applicant with a prior driving suspension or revocation must
have one (1) year of reinstatement in order to be eligible to apply. Any alcohol-
related driving arrests and overall driving history will be subject to review
* Certified police officer (an evaluation of all courses and hours completed in the
applicant's academy will be evaluated to determine the applicant's eligibility in the
selection process)
VII. CRIMINAL RECORD AND ACTIVITY
* Any felony conviction is an automatic disqualification. Any criminal activity that
would be considered a felony under Delaware law or the law of the state in which the
activity occurred is a disqualification. Arrests resulting in conviction must be
pardoned prior to submitting an application. Applicants are strongly encouraged to
apply for an expungement on any past arrests not resulting in conviction. All arrests
will be subject to evaluation.
VIII. DRUG USAGE

Instruction is provided in the areas of inmate supervision, defensive tactics, riot control, weapons, report writing and emergency medical training.
Employees in a CorrectionalOfficer (CO) series position will be eligible to retire under the provisions of HB363 if, at the time of retirement, they have completed twenty-five (25) years of pension creditable State service, and with at least twenty (20) of those years of pension creditable service as a CO series classified position. You are minimally qualified for the GS-11 Level (Starting base salary $63,795) if you possess one of the following:

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Successfully obtain Constable Training Certification from the State of Delaware

Summary Statement This class is responsible for expediting the processing of court petitions filed with Family Court by performing mediation and/or arbitration of civil and criminal cases. Interviews petitioner to assess nature of complaint, relief sought and explain procedures for filing petition.
Conducts mediation session with petitioner and respondent to define issues, assess relief sought and negotiate mutually acceptable terms; prepares consent orders stating conditions of agreement and submits to judge for an approval.
Acts as hearing officer for delinquent/criminal complaints; conducts fact finding session with parties involved and imposes appropriate conditions to provide for restitution and prevent repeated offenses; follows up with parties involved to insure compliance with court order.
Mediates emergency petitions to obtain temporary agreement; prepares report to judge when agreement can't be reached describing issues, parties' positions and recommendations for appropriate action.
Conducts custody, visitation and special investigations as directed by judge; obtains and evaluates background information on social, psychological, emotional and family stability; prepares report with findings and recommendations and disposition of case.
Prepares and maintains accurate statistical records of number, type and disposition of cases.
Provides information on court functions and jurisdiction and assistance to clients by community referral.
Job Requirements Applicants must have education, training, and experience demonstrating competence in each of the following areas: 1. Applicants must possess at least one of the following:
A bachelor's degree or higher from an accredited college or university, OR
Four years of work experience within the court system involving case management, social service, case processing, or direct customer service, OR
Four years of experience in dispute resolution, OR
An associate degree from an accredited college or university and either (i) two years of work experience within the court system involving case management, social service, case processing, or direct customer service, or (ii) two years of experience in dispute resolution.
2. Six months experience in case management, which includes assessing, planning, developing, implementing, monitoring, and evaluating options and services to meet an individual's human service needs. 3. Six months experience in interviewing using structured or unstructured interview techniques to obtain facts, explore issues, and identify courses of action. 4. Six months experience in interpreting laws, rules, regulations, standards, policies, and procedures. 5. Knowledge of mediation or arbitration. Additional Posting Information

We are currently recruiting for a full-time Security Officer at our Christiana Hospital location. The hours the successful candidate will work either straight days or straight overnights including weekends/holidays as per a two week rotating schedule.
