This Patrol Officer provides police services and protection to Cheyney University students, employees, property, grounds, facilities, clientele, and the general public in a fair and impartial manner. This is basic police service work that includes the provision of routine and customary police services. The patrol officer works under the direction of the Director of Public Safety or his/her designee. Duties and Responsibilities Investigating criminal incidents and missing person cases Acting as custodian of personal property and evidence being held for court presentation. Maintaining proper vehicle and/or bike Responding to calls for assistance, fire, burglary alarms, and emergencies on campus. The Patrol Officer completes enforcement services at university events. Files charges for violations for Commonwealth law and/or enforces vehicle code violations, directs traffic, and enforces parking regulations. Make arrests, serve warrants, transport prisoners, and take fingerprints. Transports funds for university deposits Testifies in court, attends arraignments, and hearings. Performs building checks for safety hazards, mechanical problems, failures, and other deficiencies. Performs other related police duties as assigned. Requirements Minimum Qualifications: Selection Criteria: Minimum Education & Training: High School Diploma or GED equivalent Formal training in the provisions of basic police services accompanied with certification through Act 120. Possession of a valid motor vehicle operator's license and the ability to meet such qualifications regarding strength, agility and health will be required. Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: Knowledge of laws, rules and regulations governing motor vehicle operation and personal conduct for employees or visitors at commonwealth facilities. Knowledge of Commonwealth provisions for emergency situations. Knowledge of modern police tactics and community engagement practice. Ability to react quickly and calmly in emergency situations and to determine proper courses of action. Ability to enforce laws and regulations fairly while maintaining a respectful demeanor. Ability to understand and carry out oral and written instructions. Experience working with college-age population; parking; crowd control, preferred. Rotational basis, No Night Shift, 3 day 12 hour shift schedule. The Security Specialist, Assistance is an integral member of the regional Security Assistance team. Under the direction and guidance of the Security Director, Assistance, and the Security Managers, Assistance, the Security Specialist, Assistance will be tasked with the delivery of high-quality security risk assessments, advice and the coordination of security assistance on a profile and itinerary-specific basis to travellers, international assignees, domestic nationals, and client's risk managers. The Security Specialist, Assistance will contribute to operational readiness by carrying out tasking to maintain and develop the security provider network and internal Concepts of Operations. The Security Specialist, Assistance is responsible for providing the delivery of professional and effective security assistance services for clients of International SOS to the highest standards of excellence. The Security Specialist, Assistance will also be tasked with intelligence collection, processing, and analysis to provide timely security assessments and advice to International SOS' clients and internal stakeholders, through primarily, but not exclusively, written reports, as required due to roster and surge requirements. The Security Specialist, Assistance will also support on an ad hoc basis with the delivery of security assistance consulting deliverables, client engagements, crisis response duties, and contribute to projects relating to functional enhancements. The position operates for three 12-hour shifts per week managed across 7 days a week on a rotational basis. On a rostered basis, the Security Specialist, Assistance may be assigned to provide support to clients on a global basis by giving preliminary security risk assessments and advice, escalating requests for assistance as appropriate.
