Requirements
U.S. citizenship is required
Possess a current valid driver's license
Carry and use a firearm. Maintaining firearm proficiency is mandatory.
Be at least age 21 at the time of application and less than age 37 at the time you receive a conditional offer of employment, unless you have previous service in a Federal Civilian Law Enforcement position covered by special law enforcement or firefighter retirement provisions, including early or mandatory retirement. Professional references are required to verify the related work experience. Must be at least 21 years of age. Supervises and maintains discipline and control of residents at all times. Performs searches of residents, persons, and physical areas in order to prevent and control contraband. Job Summary
The primary function of this job is the enforcement of local, state, and federal laws and ordinances, and the protection of life and property within the City of Hutchinson and surrounding area. Officers work under the direction of the Patrol Sergeant or other higher ranking officers. Duties normally consist of patrol and traffic activities in the city on an assigned shift. Officers may be delegated to assignments in specialized areas such as neighborhood services, community services, criminal investigation services, administration, or other assignments.
The Police Officer is responsible for protecting people and property. He or she patrols assigned areas, responds to calls, enforces laws, makes arrests, issues citations, and occasionally testifies in court cases. Police officers make traffic stops, respond to domestic disturbances, and may provide first aid in accident/emergency situations until paramedics arrive.
The ideal candidate is at least 21 years old and is a citizen of the United States. A high school diploma or GED is required, and a degree or additional coursework in police science, law enforcement, criminal justice, or related field is preferred. Candidates must successfully complete the required training and probationary period and must have a background investigation, drug test, physical examination, and emotional and psychological fitness examination. A valid driver's license is required.
Police Officers may be required to work overtime as necessary with little or no notice; may be required to use deadly force; and must be able to safely perform the duties of the position without posing a threat to the health and safety of themselves or others. Is a United States citizen
Have been fingerprinted and a search of all local, state and national fingerprint files made to determine whether the applicant has a criminal record

The Hutchinson Police Department will evaluate an applicant's overall pattern and use of drugs and alcohol. If prior usage is believed to be a concerning factor, the applicant will be eliminated, temporarily or permanently, from further consideration. Disqualifiers include the following:
Use of any controlled dangerous substance or narcotic drug, other than marijuana, within the past 5 years, or has an established pattern of engaging in more than minimal experimentation
Established pattern of alcohol abuse
A DAY IN THE LIFE:
• Maintains community presence and/or responds to calls related to the protection of life and property, traffic
incidents, and other public safety emergencies; Performs self-initiated patrols consisting of monitoring
roadways, neighborhoods and high crime areas of the City; Observes traffic for violations of local ordinances
and issues citations and/or makes arrests; Investigates and renders assistance at scene of vehicular accidents;
summons ambulances and other law enforcement vehicles.
• Responds to patrol calls which include domestic incidents, burglaries, property crimes, child abuse, juvenile
disturbances, health and welfare assists, alcohol and narcotics violations, civil standby, business and
residential alarms, thefts, traffic accidents, civil protection order/no contact order violations, bomb threats,
hazardous material spills, and other public and life safety incidents.
• Conducts both preliminary and follow-up investigations and collects evidence in disturbances, criminal
incidents, hazardous incidents, vehicle accidents, and deaths; Verbally interacts with witnesses and victims,
suspects, and offenders to obtain information; Conducts examinations of persons, vehicles, premises, or areas
to determine the presence of individuals or illegal activities or articles.
• Determines the existence of probable cause and identifies and takes suspects and offenders into physical
custody, or refers charges for review and prosecution; Takes suspect or offender into custody and delivers
them to appropriate confinement location while maintaining security and safety of individuals being moved
from one location to another; Prepares reports of arrests made, activities performed, and unusual incidents
observed.
• Accurately prepares and testifies in various criminal, civil and traffic court proceedings; Executes official
documents of the court serving arrest warrants, subpoenas, etc.; Performs court security functions as
assigned.

Job Description Under the supervision of the Section Commander (Lieutenant) and/or designated supervisor, the police officer performs duties in the protection of life and property and the preservation of order in Andover. The employee in this position must accept the responsibility to support and promote this organization's mission and comply with its directives. Patrol duties include enforcing traffic laws, investigating of crimes and accidents, and providing public assistance. The employee will be required to exercise initiative and discretion when faced with emergency conditions. This work involves an element of personal danger. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF WORK
Enforces all federal, state and local laws, including citing and/or arresting law violators.

Under the supervision of the Section Commander (Lieutenant) and/or designated supervisor, the police officer performs duties in the protection of life and property and the preservation of order in Andover. The employee in this position must accept the responsibility to support and promote this organization's mission and comply with its directives. The employee will be required to exercise initiative and discretion when faced with emergency conditions. This work involves an element of personal danger. The Asset Protection Specialist is primarily responsible for preventing financial loss caused by theft and fraud and supporting safety and environmental program compliance in their assigned store/multiple stores. They utilize tools to minimize loss to the Company, including but not limited to identifying incidents of theft and fraud, reviewing CCTV and exception reports, monitoring the store's physical security, auditing the Electronic Article Surveillance and driving a shrink elimination culture in the store. Other responsibilities include: preparing accurate and detailed case reports documenting your apprehensions and recoveries, preserving evidence, interacting with law enforcement and testifying in criminal and civil court actions. The Asset Protection Specialist must report any hazardous or unsafe condition to the Manager on Duty and carry out job responsibilities in a manner that minimizes the risk of injury to themselves, other associates, vendors, customers, and the Company. They must demonstrate integrity at all times, respond to asset protection and operational concerns of all associates and remain focused on store specific business objectives while supporting key asset protection and operational responsibilities.
