Role Overview: As a Correctional Officer at the Reception Diagnostic Center, you will be responsible for working as a part of a team in a maximum security Indiana Department of Correction (IDOC) facility for adult males. During a typical 12 hour shift, you will maintain the security of the unit as well as the safety of staff and incarcerated individuals, while ensuring daily activities and programs proceed on schedule. During the 2 week pay period, Correctional Officers will work 85.75 hours. This consists of 7 total shifts, including 1 weekend. Salary: This position starts at a $22/hour base pay + $1/hour of differential pay, equating to $1,972.25 biweekly or $51,278.50 annually. Candidates with relevant experience may qualify for a higher base pay. These figures do not account for any overtime pay an employee may earn. A Day in the Life: The essential functions of this role are as follows: * Monitor assigned areas at various intervals for security of incarcerated individuals, count of incarcerated individuals, and security of buildings and grounds. * Follow and ensure compliance with established security procedures. * Manage incarcerated individuals in various work details including general clean-up of institutional grounds and buildings. * Escort incarcerated individuals to and from various locations across the facility for food, medicines, work assignments, and recreation. * Keep records and make reports on such matters as incarcerated individuals movements, activities, and rule violations. * Search incarcerated individuals housing areas and visitors for possible unauthorized items. SHIFT AVAILABILITY * 1st Shift * 2nd Shift * 3rd Shift * Flexible Shifts GENERAL SUMMARY The Public Safety Officer/security personnel are responsible for (1) compliance with security access procedures at all assigned areas providing access to the secure area of the airport, (2) enforcement of TSA security regulations specifically related to 49CFR Part 1520,1540, 1542, and airport regulations along with (3) performing duties assigned by the Public Safety Officer Manager, Public Safety Officer Lead, or designee. The Indianapolis International Airport is locally and nationally recognized for its sustained commitment to the highest level of customer service. The duties of these positions will include assisting and communicating with travelers and guests in circumstances that transcend traditional public safety roles and may be more focused on customer service. The Asset Protection (AP) team's function is to keep our customers, teams and brands safe. AP partners with the store Emergency Response Team (ERT) to prepare for, respond to, and recover from a variety of emergencies. AP also protects company profits by mitigating shrinkage risks, as well as preventing, investigating, and resolving theft, to ensure merchandise is available for our customers. When working in Asset Protection, no two days will be the same, however a typical day in the life of an Asset Protection Agent will likely include the following responsibilities: * Resolve theft by using good judgment and conduct quality apprehensions in high shrinkage areas while strictly adhering to policy, procedures, and AP leadership guidance. * Identify theft trends by leveraging technology, reporting and surveillance tactics. * Drive a shrinkage reduction culture by implementing action plans and merchandise protection standards. * Identify, escalate, and support internal theft investigations through various methods including, but not limited to, exception-based reporting and surveillance systems. * Investigate internal theft by gathering evidence and partnering with AP Leadership and Investigation teams. * Use video systems to monitor theft activity and support investigations. * Leverage RFID data to view merchandise movement at the highest level and aid item level investigations with merchandise inaccuracies. * Maintain the general safety and security of customers, employees, and store by responding to, escalating, and reporting all store security and emergency incidents including medical emergencies. * Support the security of our physical spaces and those within by leading security audits, participating in store meetings, and leading shrinkage awareness efforts and training within the store. * Serve as a member of the store Emergency Response Team (ERT) and actively participate in store emergency response training, including First Aid. * Prepare and submit prompt and complete reports for all high-profile incidents, merchandise recoveries, investigations, policy violations, safety incidents and other illegal activities, etc. * Testify in court when summoned for criminal and/or civil cases. * Build cross functional partnerships with store leaders, neighboring retailers, and local law enforcement.
