Role Overview:
As a CorrectionalOfficer at the Reception Diagnostic Center, you will be responsible for working as a part of a team in a maximum security Indiana Department of Correction (IDOC) facility for adult males. During a typical 12 hour shift, you will maintain the security of the unit as well as the safety of staff and incarcerated individuals, while ensuring daily activities and programs proceed on schedule. During the 2 week pay period, CorrectionalOfficers will work 85.75 hours. This consists of 7 total shifts, including 1 weekend.
Salary:
This position starts at a $22/hour base pay + $1/hour of differential pay, equating to $1,972.25 biweekly or $51,278.50 annually. Candidates with relevant experience may qualify for a higher base pay. These figures do not account for any overtime pay an employee may earn.
A Day in the Life:
The essential functions of this role are as follows:
* Monitor assigned areas at various intervals for security of incarcerated individuals, count of incarcerated individuals, and security of buildings and grounds.
* Follow and ensure compliance with established security procedures.
* Manage incarcerated individuals in various work details including general clean-up of institutional grounds and buildings.
* Escort incarcerated individuals to and from various locations across the facility for food, medicines, work assignments, and recreation.
* Keep records and make reports on such matters as incarcerated individuals movements, activities, and rule violations.
* Search incarcerated individuals housing areas and visitors for possible unauthorized items.

Physical Effort:

The Flex Officer position is crucial to our company's operational and financial success. The flex officer provides trained, competent support by working shifts which become open due to illness, call-offs, weather, vacation, or other causes. This enables Sunstates to provide continual, uninterrupted service to our customers, while also protecting the health and work balance of our personnel.
Scheduling Expectations
The scheduling parameters and expectations for a flex officer are different from those of an employee assigned to a fixed post. As a flex:
You will be trained at various posts and /or facilities based on operational need. While you may work at a specific post or location for several weeks due to need, this will not be a permanent assignment.
Your schedule (shifts, days off, hours per week, etc.) will vary based on operational need.
You will be assigned to, or offered the opportunity to accept, shifts as they become available due to staffing needs.
Some of your shifts will be scheduled in advance and posted with the new week's schedule. Sometimes you will be called with short notice and asked to come in to cover for someone who is unable to work their shift.
You are expected to work any shift for which you are scheduled in advance which falls within the availability described on this sheet. GENERAL SUMMARY

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
* Maintain compliance with all site policies, procedures, and directives

I. JOB REQUIREMENTS:
Baccalaureate Degree in business or applied science, or equivalent combination of education and at least two (2) or more years of relevant work experience is required. Ability to properly use a variety of handbooks/manuals and commercial and law enforcement weighing and measuring devices, such as calibration equipment, ability to use 100-gallon prover, various weight kits to test scales, gas meters, other liquid measuring devices, packages and measure graphs. Ability to lift a 50-pound weight and full five-gallon prover.
Ability to properly use a variety of standard office equipment, such as computer, printer, fax machine, copier, and telephone.
Ability to use and interpret engineering terminology, make relevant arithmetic calculations, including adding, subtracting, multiplying, dividing, using decimals and percentages, algebra, and geometry.
