Hearing loss at 3000 Hz will not exceed 40 dB HL in either ear aided or unaided.
8. Employee must comply with Bernalillo County safety guidelines.

10. Successful completion of the Corrections Department probationary period and MDC Training Academy.
11. Successful applicants completing all the requirements described above may be notified by Bernalillo County of an official offer of employment. If accepted, the applicant will be hired as a County employee and scheduled into the next available Cadet Training Academy. * Responsible for the care, safety, and security of the general inmate population as well as all other inmates assigned to special management housing and program areas throughout the facility,
* Investigates reported violations of inmate prohibited acts (i.e. assaults, escapes, traffic of contraband, disturbances or other illicit activities), taking appropriate actions as dictated by the seriousness of the violation.

GL -09: One year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS/GL-08 grade level serving as a mentor or lead for lower graded CorrectionalOfficers, including leading, providing direction, and guidance to lower graded correctionalofficers in the operation and management of a correctional and/or detention facility and experience in policy and standard implementation of detention operations.
MEDICAL REQUIREMENT: The duties of this position require moderate to arduous physical exertion involving walking and standing, and exposure to inclement weather. Manual dexterity with comparatively free motion of finger, wrist, elbow, shoulder, hip, and knee joints is required. Arms, hands, legs, and feet must be sufficiently intact and functioning in order that applicants may perform the duties satisfactorily. Sufficiently good vision in each eye, with or without correction, is required to perform duties satisfactorily. Near vision, corrective lenses permitted, must be sufficient to read printed material the size of typewritten characters. Hearing loss, as measured by an audiometer, must not exceed 35 decibels at 1000, 2000, and 3000 Hz levels. Since the duties of these positions are exacting and responsible, and involve activities under trying conditions, applicants must possess emotional and mental stability. Any physical condition that would cause the applicant to be a hazard to himself/herself, or others is disqualifying.

* Possess a current valid driver's license. Must be REAL ID compliant.

Qualifications
As a condition of employment for accepting this position, you may be required to serve a 2-year trial period during which we will evaluate your fitness and whether your continued employment advances the public interest. It is a physical fitness assessment which consists of four components (push-ups, sit-ups, Illinois Agility Run and a 1.5 Mile Run). The APAT is designed to measure the current level of general physical fitness of an applicant, which serves as an indicator of an applicant's ability to safely complete a vigorous physical training program. It evaluates the applicant's ability to perform the physical tasks required on the job by measuring muscular and dynamic strength, endurance, flexibility, aerobic capacity and other factors related to physical aptitude. General Medical Requirements: As determined by OPM the duties of this position require moderate to arduous physical exertion involving walking and standing, use of firearms, and exposure to inclement weather. Manual dexterity with comparatively free motion of fingers, wrist, elbows, shoulders, hips and knee joints is required. Arms, hands, legs and feet must function sufficiently in order for applicants to perform the duties satisfactorily.

* Recruitment Incentive: Applicants may be eligible for a $40,000 recruitment incentive in accordance with regulatory requirements. The first installment of $15,000 will be paid following successful completion of Secret Service Criminal Investigator training. A second installment of $10,000 will be paid following one year of service post training and an acceptable performance rating. The final installment of $15,000 will be paid after a third year of service post training and an acceptable performance rating. Provision of these payments require the execution of a three-year Continued Service Agreement (CSA) with the agency. Newly hired employees who resign from the USSS prior to the expiration of the CSA will be required to repay the recruitment incentive. (NOTE: Eligibility is limited to "Newly appointed" Federal employees as defined by 5 CFR 575.102).
Applicants selected for this position will be required to sign a CSA before being assigned to an initial training class. The CSA will commit the applicant to a specified period of employment with the Secret Service upon the successful completion of training.
