General Definition of Work
Performs protective service work to maintain safety and security within the facility. Provide information to other facilities by email, phone or in written form. Handle complaints, settling disputes and resolving conflicts between inmates. Ensuring all paper work correct for all new intake of inmates and all discharges of inmates. Complete knowledge in the RMS system, Dynamic Imaging, Predatory Offender registration system, radio usage, telephone system first aid, CPR and Minnesota Repository of Arrest Photos. Ability to control extremely stressful situations yet still stay calm enough to provide the aid and assistance that is needed at that time for that situation to that inmate. Have intimate understanding of the Use of Force Statute and the ability to apply that statute to that situation, and related work as apparent or assigned. Work is performed under the limited supervision of the Jail Administrator.

Essential Functions
Maintain safety and security within a secure perimeter of the 80bed jail facility, ensure that all 100 plus cameras are monitored, control all electronic door locks within a 96,000 Sq. Ft. building and ensure all other security equipment is in working order.
Interact directly with inmates while conducting wellbeing checks every 25 minutes, document all activities and incidents with a precision-like manner, and intervene in all physical and nonphysical altercations subjecting yourself to bodily harm.
Properly file all paperwork for Public Defender Applications, Community Connections paperwork, PREA paperwork, Off Site Follow up Care and Statement of Rights.
Complete formal inmate counts, handle all inmate movement for STS and Huber Law, update all court information in LETG and conduct cell inspections.
Collect all Bonds and cash bail.
Distribution of medication and complete narcotic count prior to and after shift.
Scan and distribute all incoming mail prior to distribution.
Change out laundry bags.
Assist the public with video visitation & provide technical support. Answer questions regarding court times, legal process, and next steps for release.
Contact victims before inmates are released, including sending out notification form and logging into RMS.
Associate with agents and departments from other counties and states for collaboration. Coordinate activities with other divisions and government agencies, housing contract inmates and coordinate activities with other divisions and government agencies to keep up with court dates, treatment and appointments.
Process new adult arrestees, suspects, charges greater than misdemeanor and arrested juveniles.
Assign proper classification, finger printing detail, assign inmate number and proper sizing of uniform.
Escort inmate movement within and outside of the secure portion of the jail including but are not limited to medical facilities, mental health case worker appointments, psychiatric hub appointments, recreational room, library room, med-call room and programmer meetings.
Document, maintain proper inventory and store all personal property that inmates have brought into the facility.
Completing modification and verification paperwork.
Verification of all POR paperwork.
Prepare clothing and hygiene packets for new inmates.
Contact Dispatch to inactivate warrants.
Assist other shifts as needed.
Operational responsibility of the vehicle sally port doors.
Review paperwork of Officers to ensure accuracy (i.e. Pre Book, Victim notification).
Complete forms for sentenced inmates (expiration dates).
Complete regular cleaning, safety and sanitation inspections in the facility including the cell block.
Make evaluations and consults regarding medical needs of inmates, evaluate suicidal tendencies of inmates, and makes arraignments for suicide prevention in the jail setting.
Conduct fire evacuation drills.
Complete Daily Training Bulletins in Lexipol.
Training on Man-Down Scenario's to keep trained and ready for any occurrence within the jail per the Department of Corrections.
Conduct an electrical inspection of the facilities interior lighting system.
Assist with Drug Court (transferring and escorting inmates for meetings).
Inspection and documentation of all fire prevention equipment.
Count of all restraint devices.
Attend shift briefings.
Review all inmate telephone calls and texts through the reliance program.
Attend quarterly meetings with staff.
Assisting inmates with getting access to professional help with counseling, treatment and or therapy.
Assist Probation and Pre-trial release Officer with U/A's.
Perform appropriate duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Minimum Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent.
