Once you join the FDC, there are many career advancement opportunities that progress from entry level as a Correctional Officer to Sergeant, Lieutenant, Captain, Major and Colonel. From there, management positions include Assistant Wardens and Wardens. Correctional Officers can join special teams such as Rapid Response Teams, Crisis Response Team, Interdiction Units, K-9 Units, and many other special team opportunities. Correctional Officer Sergeants are responsible for the supervision, protection, care, custody, control, and physical restraint, when necessary, of inmates at a correctional institution or facility and functioning as lead officer over two or more Correctional Officers assigned to inmate dormitories, confinement areas, work areas or work squads where assignment of a supervisor is not warranted; supervising and participating in the activities of the control room or the main gate of an institution; directing the activities of an entire facility on a shift. The incumbent in this position is considered to have regulatory responsibilities and is subject to the provisions of Chapter 60L-36, Florida Administrative Code. Click here to learn more about EFI Global. **PRIMARY PURPOSE** **:** **To independently conduct extensive and detailed investigations to determine origin & cause of fires and explosions, primarily involving structures and determining the cause of fires in commercial buildings or residences.** **ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS and RESPONSIBILITIES** **Investigates assigned claims suspected of insurance fraud, this includes large loss, large fire loss, and multiple claims.** **Ensures that assigned cases are investigated and reported back to the requesting party in adherence to best practices. Anticipates training needs of customers based on customer exposure and antifraud initiatives.** **Investigates site and provides expert testimony based on determination of the origin & cause of fires and relates findings in a clear and concise manner in depositions and trials.** **Maintains assigned claims files in a confidential manner; documents all relevant facts pertaining to files in the appropriate claims handling system(s) and keeps management informed of developments that impact claims results.** **Reviews and makes recommendations on outcomes of investigations in a prompt and expeditious manner. Provides guidance and recommendations to claims leadership and associates on claims resolution.** **Develops and maintains rapport and cooperation with federal, state and local government agencies, as well as private information bureaus that can assist in investigative efforts.** **Identifies and interviews all witnesses or involved persons who may possess information or knowledge pertaining to incident under investigation: motive, opportunity or any other information or evidence. POSITION SUMMARY: This armed position is under the direct supervision of the Manager for assigned high profile site and performs a variety of security-related duties. In this position, you will observe and report activities and incidents at assigned locations, providing for the security and safety of client property, visitors, and personnel. As an armed officer, you may respond to unusual or emergency situations using appropriate escalation of force level up to and including armed response as dictated by the situation and protocol. Additionally, you will assist in preserving order and may act to enforce regulations and directives for the site pertaining to personnel, visitors, and premises; control access to client site and facility through the admittance process; responsive in all situations; monitors entrances and exits and acts to prevent unapproved or unlawful entry. Must be able to meet and continue to meet certification requirements for Basic Life Support CPR/AED and First Aid from American Heart Association or the American Red Cross. Knowledge of or ability to learn security operations and procedures. Ability to see, hears, speak, and write clearly in order to communicate with employees and clients.
