Duties
During the course of their careers, Uniformed Division Officers carry out assignments in protection. Duties include:
Providing protection for The White House Complex, The Vice President's Residence, The Main Treasury Building and Annex, and foreign diplomatic missions and embassies in the Washington, D.C. area.
Traveling in support of the Presidential, Vice Presidential, and foreign heads of state/government missions.
Enforcing mandated protective responsibilities as described under Title 18, United States Code, Section 3056A.
Our Uniformed Division's mission is to protect facilities and venues secured for U.S. Secret Service protectees. Throughout its history, the Uniformed Division has accomplished this mission through individuals who embody honor, integrity and a commitment to excellence.
Today, the Uniformed Division has grown both in size and scope of responsibility and is mandated by law to provide physical security for the White House Complex and the vice president's residence at the Naval Observatory. It also provides security for the Treasury Department building and foreign diplomatic missions in Washington, D.C. The Uniformed Division also has specialized teams including Counter Sniper, Emergency Response, K-9, and more.
Requirements
U.S. citizenship is required.
Possess a current valid U.S. driver's license.
Be at least age 20 and less than age 37 at the time you receive a conditional offer of employment, unless you have previous service in a Federal Civilian Law Enforcement position covered by special law enforcement or firefighter retirement provisions, including early or mandatory retirement. Applicants with veteran's preference must receive a conditional offer of employment prior to reaching age 40 to continue in the application process.
Carry and use a firearm. Maintaining firearm proficiency is also mandatory.
Possess uncorrected visual acuity of no worse than 20/100 binocular. Possess corrected visual acuity of 20/20 or better in each eye.
Hearing loss, as measured by an audiometer, must not exceed 25 decibels (A.S.A. or equivalent I.S.O.) in either ear in the 500, 1000, and 2000 Hz ranges. Applicants must be able to hear the whispered voice at 15 feet with each ear without the use of a hearing aid.
Submit to a drug test prior to your appointment and random drug testing while you occupy the position.
Complete 12 weeks of intensive training at the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center (FLETC) in Glynco, GA or Artesia, NM and 17 weeks of specialized training at the James J. Rowley Training Center in Laurel, MD.

DOI's Office of the Inspector General for the New York City Police Department (OIG-NYPD) is authorized to investigate, review, study, audit, and make recommendations relating to the operations, policies, programs, and practices of the New York City Police Department (NYPD), with the goal of enhancing effectiveness, increasing public safety, protecting civil liberties and civil rights, and increasing the public's confidence in the police force.
OIG-NYPD is seeking an Associate Investigative Analyst to lead confidential and sensitive investigations into the operations, policies, programs and practices of NYPD. The Associate Investigative Analyst will review selected operations, policies, programs, and practices of the NYPD using an investigative data-driven approach to identify areas of concern, in addition to areas for improvements in how NYPD carries out its law enforcement responsibilities. The Associate Investigative Analyst will be expected to critically analyze problems and deficiencies related to the operations of NYPD. They should be able to prepare well-organized, concisely written investigative memos and OIG-NYPD public reports that clearly document findings, recommendations, and supporting evidence. Leading multi-disciplinary investigative teams in developing recommendations for reforms in policing, based on investigative findings, best practices and other research. The Associate Investigative Analyst will also monitor and produce reports documenting the extent to which NYPD implements, or does not implement, the Office's recommendations.
Investigations may involve assessing an array of documents, interviewing members of the public and law enforcement professionals, and gathering and analyzing factual evidence. Responsibilities may also include screening and investigating public complaints related to NYPD and/or involving individual members of NYPD and other agencies. The Associate Investigative Analyst will assist with training and mentoring of agency staff. On a rare occasion they may be assigned individual investigations to actively monitor and guide the progress of those matters. Maintaining the highest standards of confidentiality and ethical conduct in handling sensitive information and investigations, while complying with agency policies and legal requirements with regard to handling those sensitive data.
The ideal candidate should have prior work experience in any of the following fields: policy analysis, investigations, law enforcement, criminal justice, data analysis, or police oversight. The candidate should be detail-oriented, self-motivated, and flexible enough to perform effectively both independently and as the leader of a multi-disciplinary systemic investigative team. They should be able to delegate and have exemplary project management skills, with demonstrated experience leading a project or investigation from conception to close - resulting in rigorous written deliverables.
