Provide security detail as outlined in the post orders and establish working relationships with customers, local law enforcement and fire departments. Security personnel will always perform job duties with a constant awareness of surroundings, making note of all activity that takes place in the assigned area. Security Officers must maintain a professional image and always demonstrate excellent customer service.
Basic Functions:
Control of entrances and movement of pedestrian and vehicle traffic.
Patrol of buildings and perimeters.
Escort of material and personnel.
Inspection of security and fire exposures.
Special assignments.
Responsibilities:

Overall general function of officers is to provide security detail as described below (Note: duties may vary depending on post orders):
Be on time and report to post in full uniform.
Maintain professional image that includes greeting customers, visitors and employees in a polite and friendly manner.
Be proactive in knowing all revisions to post orders and general information distributed by the customer and AFS.
Patrol physical property or maintain fixed post position, being diligent to report any suspicious activity and investigate accidents and criminal acts.
Monitor cameras or equipment in a continuous fashion as outlined in the post orders.
Maintain a working knowledge of all emergency policies, procedures and regulations to be able to respond to alarms, incidents and emergency situations.
Complete Daily Activity Reports, Log Book entries, Incident Reports and all relevant reports related to job assignment.
Make recommendations to management on better safety and loss prevention processes as identified during daily routine.
Have knowledge of any life safety systems, fire panels, CCTV system computer, and other such equipment to complete job assignments. Ensure continuous and safe operation of all elevators and access doors. Know authorized contractor personnel who are responsible for maintenance and upkeep of equipment.
Ensure training and compliance guidelines are met as outlined by AFS and other agencies regulating the customer / market.
Communicate on a daily basis with Security Supervisor any new Security Issues or changes that need to be considered or implemented.

Correctionsofficers contribute to the public safety mission by providing for the safety and security of the public, staff, and inmates by ensuring effective and safe custody and control along with compliance with policy and procedure. Successfully accomplished through the use of evidence-based practices and principles that enhance effective communication strategies and role modeling as part of collaborative multi-disciplinary teams addressing inmate needs. Minimum Qualifications

We are seeking full-time employees to join our team as CorrectionalOfficers and are pleased to announce the new Step Pay Plan approved by the NC Legislature. This pay-plan offers competitive starting salaries and guaranteed annual increases based on each year of experience as a North Carolina CorrectionalOfficer. Those with prior North Carolina CorrectionalOfficer experience can return to employment with full credit in the pay plan for each year of experience as well.
We recruit for CorrectionalOfficer I, II, and III levels statewide within our agency.
CorrectionalOfficer I: Minimum - Offenders at these facilities require a minimum amount of oversight, they are permitted to enter/exit cells without permission during certain times of the day.
CorrectionalOfficer II: Medium - Offenders at these facilities do not require as much oversight as those at Close facilities but require more supervision than those at Minimum facilities.
CorrectionalOfficer III: Close - Offenders at these facilities always require close supervision. Movement throughout the prison is heavily controlled.

Some NC prisons contain more than one custody level of offenders. There may not be a current vacancy at all facilities. Offenders are assigned to various "custody" levels including "Minimum," "Medium," and "Close" which identifies the level of supervision that is required. As such, each CorrectionalOfficer level of classification below corresponds with the custody level of offenders that they will be supervising:

CorrectionalOfficer Responsibilities:
* Ensure the care, custody, and control of offenders.
* Officers must tour assigned areas which will require:
* periodically climbing stairs.
* observing offender activity in person and on closed-circuit monitors.
* identify offenders who have behavioral, medical, or other problems so that appropriate safety and security measures may be taken.
* and perform general security duties to prevent escape, disorder, rule infractions, and harm to offenders, visitors, and staff.
* The general security duties performed by officers require them to:
* search offenders, visitors, cells, and other areas for weapons and contraband.
* monitor and regulate offender and staff movement.
* maintain and record offender counts, cell assignments, and other pertinent information.
* escort offenders within and outside the institution.
* use and maintain keys and other equipment.
* and supervise offender work details.
* Specific security duties vary by post-assignment.
PERSONAL APPEARANCE:
Employees must adhere to an appearance and grooming standard. Every employee is mandated to be in compliance with this policy.
WORK SCHEDULE:
This is a full-time position. However, employees must be able to work any shift including rotating, fixed shift, or split shift. All shifts may include days, nights, weekends, holidays, and mandatory overtime as required.
