The CorrugatorOperator is responsible for turning a mill length tube into a mill length of corrugated hose. Required to cross train across company departments based on business needs.
PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Run corrugators according to procedures.
Diagnose problems with machine and explain situation to Department Engineer.
Inspect and measure tolerances according to procedures.
Ability to react to change productively and handle other essential tasks as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
High school diploma or equivalent.
Ability to understand and follow English instructions.
Good basic math and mechanical skills.
Must be able to read a tape measure, dial calipers and micrometer.

Perform first level maintenance on machine as necessary to ensure optimal machine operation.

The Cup Operator will perform various cup machine related duties such as roll changes, maintain ink and fluid levels, minor mechanical adjustments as required to run efficiently. In addition, perform and complete other work as assigned by supervisor. All employees must follow all of Graphic Packaging International's safety procedures and policies.
DESCRIPTION OF TASKS:
* Follow production schedule: Receive production schedule from supervisor. Inspect orders listed on assigned machines to determine what prints are currently running and what print changes will occur during shift. Notify Warehouse to bring in needed rolls or blank carts as necessary.
* Prepare 3-4 cup machines for production: Clean mandrel turret. Inspect electrical cabinet and confirm proper settings and conditions exist for production. Use lift to load sidewall paper and use the lift connected to the machine to load the bottom stock. Load blanks on table for blank fed machine. Prepare new roll by taping edges. Thread the rolls through the feeders.
* Startup machines: Push jog button on both sides of the bottom maker to produce cups for the gripper, mandrel, and paper turrets. When cups begin feeding into the cup tube, push the run button to begin production. Record roll/blank cart numbers, linear feet run, time of roll/blank cart change, and the case number in which roll changes take place on the Production Report.
* Maintain fluid levels: Maintain and stock adcote, mineral oil, and silicone levels as necessary.
* Troubleshoot: Clean machine tooling as needed. Make temperature adjustments as specified by guidelines. Facilitate testing as necessary. When notified of leaker problem, follow leaker correction procedure. For large problems, notify Maintenance by using the intercom and turning on the machine's maintenance light.
* Maintain Setting for Prints: Keep machine and area clean. Wipe off oil, ink, paper dust, and poly deposits in and around the machine. Use the air hose to blow out paper and oil buildup. Keep floor free of oil and paper dust. Keep area clear of hazards. Empty barrels by dumping cups, blanks and paper scrap in dumpsters or in shredders where applicable.
* Housekeeping: Keep machine and area clean. Wipe off oil, ink, paper dust, and poly deposits in and around the machine. Use the air hose to blow out paper and oil buildup. Keep floor free of oil and paper dust. Keep area clear of hazards. Empty barrels by dumping cups, blanks and paper scrap in dumpsters or in shredders where applicable.
* Cover for other Cup Operators: Operate the machines of other cup operators while they take their breaks, if there is no break person.
Monthly Cleaning: Follow given machine cleaning checklist. Notify supervisor, maintenance or group leader of any problem(s) discovered. Turn checklist into supervisor.
* Responsible for assuring production of products consistent with established food safety, sanitation and quality standards.
* Other responsibilities as assigned.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS: Must be able to frequently and safely carry and lift scrap buckets of approximately 30 lbs. Must be willing to work overtime. and stand continuously is required.
TRAINING PROVIDED: On-the-job training provided by a designated trainer. Training period is approximately 6 - 8 weeks and will be on DAY SHIFT.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
* Supports Sofidel America's Good Manufacturing Practices and HACCP to promote a safe, sanitary and hygienically sound workplace.
* Work from written and verbal instructions as well as production schedule.
* Oversee the Dry End function of the paper machine, with priority focus on Yankee Dryer, Yankee coating, Calendar and Reel section.
* Conduct prescribed tests to ensure the quality of products. Document test results and inform machine tender and supervisor if paper quality falls outside established quality standards.
* Prepare the roll for removal from the mill, removing excess paper from the roll surface. Coordinate with crew to direct rolls from paper machine to rewinder or jumbo roll storage.
* Coordinate with the machine tender to perform service functions on the machine. Monitor computer display of machine functioning, back up the machine tender as needed.
* Perform first level maintenance on machine as necessary to ensure optimal machine operation.
* May operate clamp truck to move and process paper rolls when rolls leave the mill. Use clamp truck to place the paper roll on wrapper, wrap, label, and move the roll into the designated place in storage.
* Assist with housekeeping duties and maintain the organization and cleanliness of the facility.

Knows and fully comprehends all critical aspects of the corrugator including its operation, necessary preventative maintenance, and set up requirements.
Maintains all production and scrap goals consistently.
Analyzes all mechanical or operationally problems on the corrugator then plans for and takes proper corrective action.
Make all necessary corrections and running adjustments to ensure top quality, low scrap, and consistent productivity. (IE-cleans and adjusts the corrugator rolls, adjusts the air pressure, adjusts rider rolls, clean belt and hotplates and adjust the short press.
Test equipment to check proper operation and all safety devices are functional.
Examines tests and measures finished product form the corrugator making sure it meets or exceeds customer Quality/Functional expectations.
Make preventative maintenance checks, and inspections of assigned equipment within the corrugating area, reporting findings shift manager and maintenance supervisor and takes the appropriate actions.
Examines defects and analyzes spoilage/scrap causes taking corrective action as necessary and requesting help as needed.
Coaches' helper and stackers on all operating procedures and critical customer requirements
Notifies maintenance supervisor of all corrective actions taken, of all difficult unresolved problems and supplies needed.
Coaches/Instructs any corrugatoroperator trainees assigned.

**QUALIFICATIONS**
Must have a High School Diploma or GED.
Must be a team player with a "can do" attitude.
Should possess basic mechanical skills.
Capable of working in hot environment and in areas where inks and lubricants are used.
Must be capable of standing for long periods of time.
Must be able to frequently lift and carry 25 lbs. and occasionally up to 50 lbs.
Must have the ability to lift die with the assistance of another person (50-70 lbs.)
Must be knowledgeable of quality standards.
