Our High School at School in the Square opened its doors in Fall 2024 where we began creating opportunities and access for our students that go beyond the core content areas. We are looking for a dedicated, mission-aligned Assistant Principal to help lead our High School. Reporting to our Principal and in collaboration with a diverse and committed School Leadership Team (SLT), the Assistant Principal of College and Career will spearhead our efforts to ensure high academic standards, aligned to rigorous college and career pathways, while also focusing on the social-emotional needs of all students.
This AP will support the Principal in developing and executing high-quality, equitable STEM programming, including Advanced Placement (AP) courses, and will coach teachers to achieve strong academic outcomes for students. The ideal candidate blends instructional expertise, deep content knowledge (especially in AP math or science), a commitment to culturally responsive practices, co-teaching strategies and differentiation to meet individual student needs.
As a motivating and positive leader, the Assistant Principal will guide our teachers through ongoing feedback and inquiry cycles, lead high quality professional development, routinely analyze student work, leverage co-teaching relationships to support data-driven decision making, and provide consistent observation, feedback, and modeling. The Assistant Principal will collaborate on the build out of the high school (next year is year 3), and will be responsible for growing a rigorous, AP aligned STEM department with diverse course offerings and math interventions for students who need them.
Who You Are:
Experience as a full-time, impactful secondary STEM teacher with a minimum of five years and have at least two years of previous experience in leadership. Experience in an urban charter school setting is strongly preferred
Experience teaching AP mathematics or science courses, or documented success coaching STEM teachers toward improved AP instruction and outcomes.
Strong instructional leadership skills with experience coaching teachers or leading professional development.
Demonstrated ability to use data to inform instruction and strengthen student outcomes.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a commitment to equity and culturally responsive practice.
Proficient in current teaching methods and educational pedagogy, with knowledge of dual language, co-teaching strategies and differentiation to meet individual student needs
A strategic, solutions-focused thinker with strong communication and planning skills
A consummate coach and strong relationship builder, you get personal fulfillment by succeeding through others and developing leaders
Familiar with restorative practices, a strong believer in anti-racism education, culturally responsive and sustaining pedagogy, trauma informed practices
A graduate of a Master's Degree in Education program and possess a valid New York State Teaching Certification preferred
Professional fluency in Spanish or experience with ESL/Dual Language teaching preferred.

Perform a variety of craft duties involved in simple construction, maintenance, lubrication, troubleshooting, and repair work on buildings and equipment.
Assist on all types of construction, maintenance, and repair work as necessary throughout the Plant.
Use mechanic hand tools, overhead hoist, man lifts, etc. to assist in dismantling and assembling equipment.
Perform other miscellaneous duties as required or assigned.
Clean up the area where work is being performed.
Ensure the plant area meets or exceeds all safety standards (guarding, walkways, fall protection, PPE, lockout/tag out, etc.) and all work is performed safely.
Required Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent.
Must be able to work outdoors in a non-climate controlled environment, subject to dirt, greasy, rough terrain, and inclement weather at times and cold weather in winter.
Must be able to climb stairs, ladders, to perform work at heights.
