We are seeking a responsible and highly motivated Research Associate to join the Johnston, IA Genomics lab's Molecular Characterization team. This is a lab-based position which requires the ability to work efficiently both independently as well as in a team environment, follow, develop, and troubleshoot protocols and deliver high quality results on time. You will apply state-of-the-art techniques in support of the Biotechnology gene editing pipeline and document experimental data accurately into database systems. This role will coordinate with various laboratories to support Corteva scientists as they seek to improve crops through conventional breeding and genetic engineering. You will partner with our colleagues across the organization to provide agile and flexible analytical solutions to answer their experimental questions.
What You'll Do:
This role's primary responsibility will be providing molecular biology lab support by:
* Maintaining a reliable molecular screening pipeline to support the discovery, characterization, and development of genome editing applications.
* Managing a constantly changing workload appropriately and effectively to ensure that project timelines are met
* Operating and maintaining molecular laboratory equipment
* Ensuring that all materials necessary for production are prepared properly, safely and on time
* Documenting details of weekly production data with an ability to analyze and interpret results
* Recording pertinent information in proprietary and standard software applications
* Participating in new technology development or process improvement studies
What Skills You Need:
Bachelor's degree in molecular biology, biochemistry, or related field. Preferred candidates would have a minimum of 1 year of related experience, or equivalent levels of relevant education and experience.
* Experience and working knowledge of basic molecular biology techniques such PCR, gel electrophoresis, and nucleic acid characterization are desired.
* Molecular biology experience a plus
* Attention to detail and ability to stay focused while performing repetitive tasks
* Ability to function both independently and as a respectful team member
* Demonstrated ability to work effectively on multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines

Education and training:

Proficient in Canva and social media best practices knowledge
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Job duties will be dependent on individual manager needs.
Internship will provide an overview to the various Marketing Departments' function and basic day to day job responsibilities providing students an exploratory environment in the early stages of their career development.
Work may require team and independent tasks.
Job duties will provide experience and opportunities to learn how to navigate in a professional organization, build and leverage problem solving skills, apply educational knowledge within their department, and develop soft skills in support of professional development.
Assist with content creation for social media accounts.
Support campaign development with market research and analysis.
Maintain marketing databases.
Assist with tracking and reporting on marketing campaign performance.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
The ability to frequently move about inside the office and to food processing facilities as needed. Ability to operate a computer and other office productivity equipment. Occasionally, must be able to remain in a stationary position throughout much of the working day. Ability to inspect and troubleshoot computer and/or technical equipment.
