In July 1972, this board became known as the Council of Smaller Enterprises (COSE). Original founders included Bill Jones, Edward H. Richard, Margaret Kahliff, Bob Rose, Dick Lezius, Jack Findeisen, Bob Shultz and George Bodwell.
However, in 1972, Bill Jones, another successful small business owner, was appointed to oversee a committee whose main goal was to attract small business membership to the Growth Association.
The need for a new Code emerged due to the profession developing a wider understanding of ethical issues not addressed in the 1979 Code.
The last major revision of the NASW Code of Ethics was in 1996.
The 1999 revision was minor and clarified circumstances in which social workers may need to disclose confidential information without a client’s consent.
