Our team is responsible for the development of CoStar's customer-facing Real Estate Analytics products. We are looking for a Technical Manager to join our group and drive the full-lifecycle development of these critical products. This includes the architecture, development, and ownership of our web-based data analytics applications. This role will collaborate closely with other technical leadership, product owners and other developers, while also giving you independence and ownership of your work. As a senior member of the group, you will drive the technical strategy and architecture of our platform.
This position is in San Diego, CA and offers the work schedule of 4 days on-site and 1 day remote.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Lead an Agile full stack software development team (approximately 4-6 people) to deliver scalable high performance technical solutions.
Act as a player-coach, who can mentor and coach team members into highly productive team players.
Promote can-do attitude, engineering mindset, and collaboration as fundamental team values.
Influence application architecture and CI/CD pipeline improvements.
Architecting, building, testing, and deploying scalable, reusable, and maintainable applications that handle large amounts of data.
Drive continuous improvement by focusing on engineering excellence.
Translate business requirements into technical requirements, develop project plans, and work schedules for use by development teams.
Successfully implement software development projects to specification and within scheduled timelines and budget parameters
Collaborate with Product Managers, Designers, and other Agile teams to deliver large initiatives.
Work with recruiting to identify, hire, and onboard top industry talent.
Develop and maintain an in-depth working knowledge of the CRE Industry and CoStar's business model / technology.
Be hands on and be able to evaluate emerging technologies to identify opportunities, trends, and best practices that can be used to strengthen CoStar's technology platform and development practices.
Adopt an owner-operator mindset and demonstrate full ownership of the product and technical platforms.
Act as "Voice of the Customer" when participating in product readiness reviews.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's Degree required from an accredited, not-for-profit, in-person college/ university.
10+ years of professional software development experience.
A track record of commitment to prior employers.
4+ years' experience building large distributed, API-driven systems.
3+ years of experience leading agile teams.
Significant full-stack experience, with deep expertise in back-end technologies (C#, .NET Core 6.x¸ .NET Framework, Web API, Node, etc.).
Experience with Kafka, DynamoDB, SQS, Lambda, S3, and Redis.
Experience leading technical teams, working through complex requirements, and offering relevant, timely technical solutions.
Strong written and verbal communication skills; Must be able to communicate at a level appropriate to the audience (direct reports, peers, and senior management).
Excellent team building, negotiation, and consensus building abilities.
Ability to motivate and build high performance software development teams.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS
Real world experience designing and implementing complex application architectures on Amazon Web Services.
Experience in both designing and securing solutions in a complex and regulated enterprise environment.
Commercial Real Estate (CRE) knowledge is a bonus.
