Other activities will include case staffings in a team environment, training's and connecting with some of the other people/agencies (customers) in a human service system that we work in. We encourage people to be active in the community. Documentation of your services is very important. However GMFS uses an advance electronic record system that make this part of the job go very well. Finally, because we really like to focus on the family system and meet them where they are at, we ask that you plan for some non-traditional hours, afternoons and early evenings (4-5).


QUALIFICATIONS:


Education: Counselor Level: High School Diploma with 4000 hours of working with children and families under the direct clinical supervision of a licensed mental health professional; Bachelor’s degree with 2000 hours of working with children and families under the direct clinical supervision of a licensed mental health professional or Bachelor's degree in behavioral health or related field and completed a practicum or internship that requires direct interaction with adults or children and is focused on behavioral sciences or related fields or; Master’s degree in human services related field.

Skills & Knowledge: Familiar with a variety of counseling techniques and theories to aid in the care and treatment of individuals with mental health needs such as: behavior modifications for children, child development education, communication, decision-making skills, anger management, social skills, leisure, self-esteem and basic home budgeting.

Work Hours and Benefits

Mental Health Counselor Qualifications and Skills:

Must have knowledge and understanding of Family Systems Theory; Family Centered Practices, family dynamics, shared/unshared parenting and evidence treatment-based philosophies of family-based services; ability to relate well with families of varied lifestyles, backgrounds, and ethnicities. Must have the ability to use psychotherapy and psych-education skills which include Behavioral management, Mental health disorders, etc. Have knowledge of and the ability to access community resources; experience and knowledge of evidenced based treatment in cultural diversity; substance abuse; domestic violence; crisis intervention; medication; effects of child abuse/neglect and trauma on child and adult development, etc. Ability to follow behavioral treatments plans, assessment and progress documents. Ensure clients obtain all services in a timely manner, while demonstrating ethical boundaries in a professional manner at all times. Responsible for coordination of services with the Case Worker, Director of Services, and all entities involved minimally on a weekly manner. Responsible for attending all trainings, supervision, field observations, and required meetings outlined for all providers and contractors.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
REQUIRED:

LPC, LCSW, LAC, or LMSW preferred, but will consider any candidate with a Master's degree in Counseling, Social Work, Psychology and /or directly related field with a lower or independent license with the Arizona Board of Behavioral Health. Three to five years' experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified preferred, along with experience working with diverse populations. Consideration will be given to candidates recently graduated with a master's degree and pursuing an associate level license. Candidate must be able to pass background check and have an Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card. Must be able to work collaboratively in a rural multicultural setting.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Assessing clients using the standardized or evidence-based assessment tools and diagnosing clients for substance disorders using the DSM 5
Obtaining previous records that are relevant to the current treatment episode
Collaborating with the client in order to develop a written treatment plan that is client-centered and recovery oriented and includes goals and measurable objectives
Reviewing clients throughout the treatment episode according to ASAM PPC-2R, to determine the need for continued services or discharge/transfer
Reviewing and, where necessary, revising the substance abuse counseling portion of the client treatment plan to address emerging problems
Contacting referral sources, providing case consultation and coordination with referral sources (for example: mental health treatment providers, criminal justice agencies, schools, employers, the Youth and Family Services)
Participating as a member of a multidisciplinary team for assigned clients
Documenting all counseling and education services, assessments, reassessments, referrals and follow-up in the client's clinical record, providing appropriate signatures and dating of such entries, including those made in electronic records
Acts as first point of contact for clients, counselors, and office staff when the Clinical Director is unavailable.
Knowledge of substance use disorders, co-occurring disorders and associated co-morbidities
Knowledge of the 12-Step Recovery program and process Knowledge of all applicable Federal, State and Regional regulations, including Accreditation standards that govern treatment of Substance Use Disorders including confidentiality, patient rights, ethics and discrimination
