Job Summary (includes but is not limited to the following, other duties may be assigned)
Responsible for providing legal advice, regulatory support and strategic expertise Calpine's Retail business lines and provides legal support in a variety of business negotiations and contractual agreements in the retail electricity and gas space. The Mental Health Counselor will provide evidence based therapeutic interventions and services to children and their families which will enable them to deal with a range of behavioral and emotional problems identified. The Mental Health Counselor will also provide intakes, assessments, individual, and family counseling in-home, in-office, at designated school campuses in the Houston area, community or virtual settings. The Mental Health Counselor may also work in collaboration with community partners to provide these services.
Experience/Skills Required:
Master's in social work or related human services field.
Fully licensed as an LMSW; or
Provisionally licensed as an LPC-Associate, or LMFT-Associate.
Passed licensure examination to obtain LMSW, LMFT-Associate, or LPC-Associate.
Employment is contingent upon obtaining full/provisional licensure within 90 days of hire.

This position will be responsible for the day-to-day operations of the program at the school site. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE THE FOLLOWING:
Coordinates services for identified students and families during the school day and possibly before and after school.
Interview students and/or parents and/or guardians with problems such as personal and family adjustments, abuse, criminal conduct, finances, employment, food, clothing, housing, and physical and mental impairments to determine the nature and degree of the problem.
Secures information such as medical, psychological, and social factors contributing to a student's situation and evaluates these and the student's capacities.
Counsels students individually, in family, or in other small groups regarding plans for meeting needs and aids students to mobilize inner capacities and environmental resources to improve social functioning.
Helps students to modify attitudes and patterns of behavior by increasing understanding of self, personal issues
Maintains working knowledge of community resources and agencies and connects the appropriate resources to individual students' and families' needs
Refers and follows up with student and/or parent and/or guardian to community resources and other organizations.
Compiles records and prepares reports, meeting required deadlines in a timely manner.
Review the service action plan and perform follow-up inquiries to determine the quantity and quality of services provided to the student and the status of the student's case.
Accesses and records student and community resource information.
Secures supplementary information such as free and reduced lunch status, discipline reports, grades, and other school data reports necessary to assess the student's needs accurately.
Actively involve volunteers in their areas of interest and expertise.
Work closely with principal(s) and counselor(s) to effectively structure programs, meeting the needs of the individual campus setting. When required, determines student's eligibility for financial assistance.
Effectively meeting the objective of the CIS-Crisis Intervention program through individual mentoring and/or counseling and/or organized group sessions.
Organizing and maintaining student case files in compliance with the Perfect File Checklist as outlined by CIS.
Plan, organize, and implement program design to meet the needs of the students and families effectively.
Relate, motivate, and encourage students, parents/guardians and/or administrators, faculty, and staff.
Have knowledge of Southeast Harris and/or Brazoria County resources.
Must be able to interact positively with a diverse group of individuals of the school, city, and state entities.
Compile and submit reports and information in a timely manner.

SUPERVISION
The Communities In Schools of Southeast Harris and the Brazoria County Crisis Intervention Program Director supervise the site coordinator. (See organizational chart)
EDUCATION
Masters Degree is strongly preferred in Social Work, Psychology, Sociology, or a related field.
LICENSE
Licensure in either psychology, social work, or a related field is required.
EXPERIENCE
A minimum of three years experience in a work setting. Must be able to work with students and parents of low and medium incomes and interface with various school and community members.

Lead the planning and execution of specific new parent events to welcome the new parents to the campus and helps them integrate and get acclimated to the campus culture and expectations with campus lead team.
Leads the parent conversations and addresses concerns of our newest families to ensure they are heard, and the campus is responsive
Partners with the APO to ensure all new student on-boarding is completed and operational support is given at all new student and new parent events

* Provide continued support to students in need through individual counseling, small group counseling, consultation, or referral to services outside the school or district.
* Serve as an impartial, non-reporting resource for interpersonal conflicts and discourse involving two or more students, including accusations of bullying.
Individual Planning
* Create school counseling services that are developmental and age-appropriate and provide information or literature that highlights related topics to students, teachers, and administrators.
* Assist individual students and their parents or guardians in monitoring their academic, career, personal, and social development as they progress in school.
* Act as a student advocate, leader, collaborator, and systems change agent. Advocate for a school environment that acknowledges and respects diversity and ensures equitable access and placement in courses and programs for minority, disenfranchised, homeless, and other special populations.
* Interpret standardized test results, offer career development activities, provide strategies for grade-level transitions, and guide students in individual goal setting and planning, including creating and reviewing personal graduation plans and providing information about post-secondary opportunities.
System Support
* Collect, summarize, and interpret testing data to plan, create interventions, guide students, and address specific student needs.
* Conduct an annual program audit to inform accountability, action plans, time management, and systemic change.
* Participate in campus-based school improvement planning and goal setting.
* Provide parent or guardian and staff training and consultation to foster student educational, career, personal, and social development.
* Clearly articulate and communicate the counseling program's management system and related program action plans to campus and district staff, parents/guardians, and the community.
* Participate in staff development and continuing education opportunities to improve job-related skills and research to identify best practices in implementing a comprehensive school counseling program.
Other Related Duties
* Ensure student records are maintained as required by state and federal regulations.
* Comply with policies established by federal and state law, State Board of Education rules, and board policy. Comply with all district and campus practices and regulations.
* Adhere to legal, ethical, and professional standards for school counselors including current professional standards of competence and practice.
