Essential Duties:

GENERAL DESCRIPTION
TJJD addresses the multiple and complex needs of the youth committed to the agency as well as their families through a trauma informed multidisciplinary integrated approach that includes implementation of the agency approved Texas Model and a Mental Health Treatment Program (MHTP). The MHTP provides enhanced psychiatric and psychological assistance to youth who have been diagnosed with moderate to severe mental health problems and/or illnesses, which allows the general rehabilitation case managers to focus on risk reduction and protective factor enhancement strategies in order to reduce the risk of reoffending. This collaboration allows for holistic and individualized treatment of youth in need of MHTP services.
Performs entry-level psychological work. Work involves assisting in planning, organizing, coordinating, and monitoring specialized treatment programs. Assists in meeting program goals and objectives; and provides Mental Health Services to youth. Implements and adheres to program standards; and fiscal, personnel, and legal policies.
Works under close supervision, with minimal latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment. May be required to work in excess of 40 hours per work week.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Facilitates treatment groups.
Participates in Youth Service Team Meetings.
Participates in implementation of behavior interventions and treatment plans.
Assists in administering, scoring, analyzing, results of non-projective and performance tests.
Assists in performing diagnostic and treatment functions.
May assist with psychological research projects and program evaluations.
May assist assigned therapist with family involvement.

* Maintains offender records and other records regarding services provided to include statistical feedback on evaluations; and compiles data and submits reports and related documentation as appropriate.
* At the conclusion of the program, an Individual Progress Summary will be developed for each offender on caseload to reflect the evaluation results together with comments about the offender's level of participation and quality of completion in the DWI programs.
* Submit copy of the Individual Progress Summary to the Parole Division to be included in the Parole Case Summary.
* Supervises the work of others; and assists in instructing others in program methods, procedures, and functions.
* Promote the development of positive social skills through modeling appropriate behaviors and intervening when inappropriate behaviors are observed; provide regular feedback to staff regarding social skills procedures and intervention techniques.
* Maintain accountability of staff, offenders and property; adhere to safety practices.

Education and Experience Requirements:

D. Provides technical assistance and consultative psychological services for mental health care issues to agency staff, provider agencies, and other organizations.

Provides liaison and represents the program area at meetings, conferences, seminars, hearings, trails, and legislative meetings; serves on boards, panels, and committees; testifies at hearings and trials; develops and maintains liaison with agency departments, outside agencies, and the public; and serves as a member of the agency hostage negotiation team.
F. Supervises the work of others; and oversees and coordinates mental health staff training programs.

III. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
A. Education, Experience, and Training

2. Three years full-time, wage-earning experience in clinical assessment, clinical management, clinical psychology, or counseling in a psychological therapeutic environment.
