Responsibilities will include responding to emergency and non-emergency calls with police officers to engage clients that are experiencing mental/behavioral health crisis, meeting clients in the community, assessing clients for safety, determining appropriate level of care, and providing clinical or non-clinical treatment. The Crisis Counselor will be providing services in real time with the support of the High Point Police Department. Works closely with multiple departments and community members on special projects, programs, and referrals. Work also involves a follow-up component to connect identified individuals with available community resources. Work is performed under the regular supervision of the Community Division Commander. Essential Tasks & Responsibilities: Respond to referral requests from the police department or other designated partners. * Respond within 30 minutes to calls for service where an alternate response team is requested. Depending on the call type and safety assessment, response may be independent or co-response with a police officer. * Determine the type of response needed including field-based crisis intervention, phone counseling, information, follow-up, and/or referral. * Engage with clients to develop rapport and gain cooperation for the completion of assessments. * Conduct clinical assessments to determine the appropriate safety plan and level of service referral interventions needed by collecting information from clients, providers, supports, and advocates. * Provide evidence based therapeutic interventions as indicated on the assessment (clinical or non-clinical). * Conduct limited case management services for high service utilizers as directed by the Lead Clinician. * Establish and maintain healthy work relationships with community partners and resources. * Participate in an after-hours on-call schedule. * Provide accurate documentation within allocated time frames. * Operate standard office equipment including calculator, copier, personal computer, printer, and related software. * Enter and edit data in databases, spreadsheets or word processing software as needed. * Utilizes specialized software to ensure HIPAA compliance and maintain case management notes. * Work outside the office and within the community as needed. * Other duties as assigned.     Counselor internship job in Winston-Salem, NC

    The Part-Time Work-Based Learning (WBL) Internship Coach supports all instructional and compliance components of the College's Work-Based Learning internship program. The WBL Internship Coach will oversee and mentor WBL students across several technical and transfer programs, conduct required site visits, support industry connections, and assist with student recruitment into experiential learning pathways. This position guides students through the entire WBL process from pre-registration through course completion, ensuring that each internship experience meets College, NCCCS Section 20, and state standards. The WBL Internship Coach collaborates closely with the Experiential Learning Director, WBL Coordinator, WBL Specialist, Career Services, faculty, and employer partners to provide a high-quality student experience aligned with the College's QEP and Vision 2030 experiential learning goals. This is a 20-hour-per-week, part-time instructional role. Minimum Qualifications Required: * Bachelor's degree * At least one year of experience in higher education, workforce development, student support, advising, or related administrative/educational environments. * Demonstrate ability to manage multiple priorities with strong organizational skills. * Strong communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills for working with students, employers, and faculty. Preferred Qualifications Preferred: * Experience working in a community college setting. * Experience with Simplicity Career Hub or another career development/experiential learning platform. * Experience with learning management systems (Blackboard or equivalent). * Experience coaching students or employees on career skills. * Experience supporting internship, co-op, or work-based learning programs. Essential Duties Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned. STUDENT RECRUITMENT & PROMOTION * Conduct classroom visits across academic divisions to promote Work-Based Learning and experiential learning opportunities. * Recruit students during class presentations and at college and community events, in partnership with the WBL office. * Collaborate with Career Services and program faculty to promote WBL workshops, résumé sessions, and readiness initiatives. * Present WBL program overviews to students, faculty, staff, and industry partners as needed. Pre-Registration & Placement Responsibilities * Meet with students to assess career goals, readiness, and skillsets in preparation for internship placement. * Maintain communication with industry contacts at WBL sites as needed to monitor student intern progress * Collaborate with employers and students to finalize job descriptions and student learning objectives. * Approve WBL Placement Forms and Agreements * Show internship opportunities to students and coach them through the application process. * Provide students with clear instruction regarding registration, expectations, deadlines, and WBL procedures. INSTRUCTIONAL, SEMESTER-LONG RESPONSIBILITIES * Serve as instructor of records for assigned WBL students. * Send syllabus, course expectations, and orientation reminders to students. * Verify that students complete online orientation by the census deadline. * Enter student orientation completion in Self Service. * Review initial feedback from students in Symplicity. * Conduct and document required site visits with students and supervisors. * Ensure students log required hours and maintain accurate time logs in Symplicity. * Communicate regularly with students to provide mentoring, coaching, and workplace guidance. * Remind students and employers of evaluation requirements and deadlines. * Review final student evaluations, final employer evaluations, and overall internship feedback. * Finalize attendance and submit grades in coordination with WBL Specialist/Coordinator. * Maintain continuous engagement through the WBL Instructor Teams channel and email communication. DATA TRACKING, DOCUMENTATION & COMPLIANCE * Utilize strong organizational and data-tracking skills to ensure all WBL internship experiences meet College, state, and NCCCS Section 20 audit requirements. * Maintain accurate electronic and hard-copy records, including site visit notes, evaluations, time logs, and communications. * Support WBL program audit preparation by providing documentation samples, reports, and accurate data. * Adhere strictly to required deadlines for documentation, evaluations, site visits, and attendance verification. * Collaborate with the WBL Specialist on reviewing incoming documentation and ensuring information is accurate, complete, and properly routed. INDUSTRY & COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT * Assist in the maintenance of employer relationships to support WBL placements. * Engage with employers professionally, representing the College at site visits, meetings, and community events. * Support the Coordinator and Director in strengthening experiential learning pathways with industry partners. * Provide valuable feedback from employers and students that supports program improvement efforts. PROGRAM SUPPORT & COLLEGE COLLABORATION * Collaborate with Career Services to promote résumé building, interview preparation, and workplace readiness for WBL students. * Support Experiential Learning events, presentations, schedules, meetings, and special projects as assigned. * Contribute to program assessment, continuous improvement initiatives, and Vision 2030 experiential learning metrics. * Build collaborative relationships with faculty, advisors, academic divisions, and workforce partners. * Participate in team meetings, operational reviews, and internal training sessions as required.
