The Opportunity
This position works out of our Pleasanton, CA location in the Heart Failure Division.
Abbott is currently seeking an experienced commercial attorney to provide legal advice to Abbott's Heart Failure Division. The attorney will be expected to identify and resolve complex legal issues to support the operations of a global leader in the research, development, manufacturing, sales and marketing of medical device products. The ideal candidate will have experience working with healthcare providers and a solid understanding of payor agreement contracting principles as well as billing, reimbursement, compliance, and auditing guidelines and requirements. What You'll Work On
Conducting reviews and revisions of payor agreements on request and offering legal advice on business payor relations and contracting strategies.

Offering advice on payor and reimbursement disputes to mitigate legal risks.

Advising and ensuring that internal clients receive sound, practical and timely legal advice on a wide variety of legal matters related to operation of a commercial business that markets to health care professionals.
Resolving legal issues using negotiation skills and legal expertise, including pre-litigation dispute resolution and settlements.
Assisting in the creation of new template agreements, playbooks and training to support efficient contracting processes for various business functions.
Developing knowledge of Abbott's businesses, products and client areas supported.
Maintaining familiarity with laws that affect client areas to issue spot and provide basic counseling, including those relevant to sales and marketing of products to health care professionals and reimbursement by government programs, for example, fraud and abuse (Anti-Kickback Statute, False Claims Act, Civil Monetary Penalties Law, Stark, Beneficiary Inducement Statutes), FDA regulation (Food, Drug & Cosmetic Act), privacy (HIPAA), and anti-corruption (Foreign Corrupt Practices Act);
Representing Abbott externally to suppliers and customers; and
Helping select and/or directing the work of outside counsel, defining project objectives, managing project, and monitoring outside counsel budget.
This position will interact with the Legal, Compliance, Finance, Education, Supply Chain, Research & Development, Regulatory, Quality, Clinical, Marketing, Commercial/Sales, and Information Technology Departments.
Infrequent and minimal travel may be required (10-15%).

Key Responsibilities:
Provides orientation to new patients to the programs' rules, policies, procedures, and patients' rights.
Conduct Intakes, Discharge Planning, Initial Assessments, and Initial Treatment Plans professionally and within time guidelines as required by applicable federal and state regulation, CARF guidelines and Pinnacle Policies.

Evaluate the patients for any high-risk conditions (e.g., liver failure, pregnancy, overdose, bipolar, schizophrenia, etc.), which may endanger the patient (suicidal) or other parties (homicidal).
Administer the BAM-R, C-SSRS, GAD-7, and PHQ-9 screening tools to determine the severity of the patient's mental/emotional status.
Evaluate the risk factors concerning each such case, considering the appropriateness of, and professionalism in treating such individuals in an OTP in comparison to treatment in a residential facility or other treatment modalities.
Review and ask about other practitioners' involvement in the treatment of these high-risk conditions. Recommend immediate referral to such a specialist in case of need. Request the patient sign a waiver for release of information which will allow communication with the other practitioner in case of need (e.g., deterioration of the patient's condition).
Flag high-risk patients to the Medical Directors, Physician Extenders, and Regional Clinical Leadership (RCL) and highlight the conditions concerned.
Refer such patients to the Medical Directors, Physician Extenders or RCLs (Regional Clinical Leadership) based on the urgency, utilizing the informal Referral Policy or the scheduled Treatment Team/Case Conference session.
Review physician notes, following the Medical Directors or Physician Extenders' session with the patient, verifying that they noted and addressed the high-risk factor, or otherwise bring it immediately to the attention of the supervising counselor, as well as the clinic manager, until the matter's proper and professional handling by the physician or physician extender.
Advise, in writing, other staff members (including the clinic manager, supervising counselor, dispensing nurse and front office) of high-risk patients and their condition. Maintain and circulate minutes from treatment team/case conference sessions to the other staff members.
Provide professional counseling and referral services by:
Addressing patients' clinical and special needs by maintaining referrals to specialized (“second tier”) services rendered by physicians, physician extenders and counselors within Aegis, as well as referrals to Keys to Recovery (or other twelve-step) support groups, and other community resources (e.g., agencies and practitioners outside of Aegis), acting as a liaison to these agencies, as necessary.
Providing individual and group counseling as clinically necessary, to address the problem issues identified in the Initial Assessment and Treatment Plans. The counseling service will include protocols for the treatment of Relapse Prevention, Peer Pressure, Anger Management, Domestic Violence, Parenting, Family Preservation, Vocational Rehabilitation, etc.
Utilizing advanced counseling techniques such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, etc.
Scheduling regular counseling sessions with patients; issue patient appointment cards and record scheduled or rescheduled sessions in EHR scheduler.
Documenting counseling entries, including signature and date, as required by applicable federal and state regulations, CARF guidelines and Pinnacle policies.

Position Summary: Based in San Jose, CA and reporting to the regional Wellness Manager, the Wellness Counselor will provide direct educationally related mental health services directly to students in special education, related mental health services to general education students, as well as providing consultation and coaching to school leaders and teachers regarding issues of trauma, mental health, behavior, and community resources. At Rocketship, we have made a strong historical commitment to the social-emotional development of our students as well as implementing best practices in supporting behavior. For multiple years, a regular daily component of our school day is a dedicated block to proactively teach social-emotional skills. We have well built PBIS systems and routines at every campus as well as a well built out suite of social-emotional and behavior interventions. The Wellness Team is responsible for the ongoing elevation of these systems and structures as well as the delivery of many of these services including but not limited to: social-emotional learning, social-emotional & behavioral interventions and supports, and mental health services (including ERMHS). The Wellness Counselor will serve a single school site which may include schools in San Jose, Redwood City, Concord, or Antioch. The Wellness Counselor will partner closely with school psychologists, behavior intervention specialists, special education case managers, school leaders, general education teachers and program specialists to conduct mental health assessments, provide direct mental health services, and support with ongoing implementation and coaching of strategies to help students succeed in their classrooms. The Wellness Counselor may also be involved in crisis level support and creation of safety plans for students with more significant safety concerns, as well as delivering professional development to Rocketship staff. This position requires previous training and experience working with students with emotional and behavioral needs. Essential Functions
Create treatment plans and goals to address educationally related mental health service for the purposes of fostering better mental health and positive learning environments for students at all Tiers (Social Skills Groups, Gen-Ed Counseling, ERMHS related services).
Monitor student progress toward IEP goal attainment (for ERMHS services) using a special education database system (SEIS).
Provide culturally appropriate and sensitive school-based mental health services in the forms of individual, group, and family treatment, therapeutic case management, crisis intervention, and consultation services as required by the student's IEP or general education plan.
Provide crisis intervention for both general education students and special education students as needed.
Collaborate with and be a part of any coordinated meetings (IEP meetings for students on caseload, SST meetings, MTSS meetings) as the mental health professional.

Duties & Responsibilities
Conducts 100% of scheduled sessions, unless time-off has been granted or the parents of the client have communicated to the clinical team that they would not like for the hours to be provided.
Primarily responsible for conducting subbing sessions for other clients to sustain the productivity margin if a session is cancelled by the family. Subbing sessions will fall on Saturdays and within the employee's availability.
Additional hours or sessions may be assigned by the Regional leadership within employee's availability.
Implements individualized treatment goals and Behavioral Intervention Plans in response to the direction provided by the Clinical Director and Senior Clinical Leader/Clinical Leader and/or other clinical staff in order to improve the behavior and skill acquisition of clients diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder.
Travels to Center, Home, and other community settings to deliver services.
Subbing sessions will primarily take place in the regional centers
Renders completed sessions daily and writes thorough notes
Communicates schedule changes and cancellations to clinical team immediately.
Participates in regular meetings and promptly communicates with Clinical Leaders/Clinical Directors via email and phone, regarding Treatment Plans and Behavioral Intervention Plans, family concerns and questions.

Victim Witness Advocate I is the entry-level class in the Victim/ Witness Advocate series. Incumbents in this position must be available to work rotating day, night, and weekend shifts. Incumbents receive shift differential pay for applicable p.m., night, and/or weekend shifts.

* Learns to provide on-site acute crisis needs assessment and intervention services to victims and/or witnesses of crimes through a 24-hour mobile crisis unit that responds to calls referred by law enforcement agencies; learns to assist on-site law enforcement personnel by encouraging victim/witness comprehension of and cooperation with the crime scene investigation process; learns to establish victim eligibility and provide for emergency assistance including food, clothing, transportation and shelter; learns to develop case plans for follow-up and management as appropriate.

Vacation: Maximum earned vacation is 10 days each year up to 3 years; 15 days after 3 years; 20 days after 10 years; and 23 days after 20 years.
Holidays: Effective July 1, 2017, all civil service status employees earn 14 paid holidays each year. Please see the appopriate MOU for details regarding holidays, accruals, use, and cashability of accrued time.
Sick Leave: 12 working days of sick leave annually with unlimited accumulation. Sick leave incentive: An employee is eligible to receive eight hours administrative leave if the leave balance equals at least one- half of the cumulative amount that the employee is eligible to accrue. The employee must also be on payroll during the entire calendar year.
Bereavement Leave: 3 days of paid leave for the death of qualifying family member, 2 additional days of accrued leave for death of employee's spouse, domestic partner, parent or child.
Merit Salary Increase: New employees will receive the starting salary, which is the first step of the salary range. After employees serve 52 weeks (2080 hours) on each step of the range, they are eligible for a merit increase to the next step.
Job Sharing: Employees may agree to job-share a position, subject to approval by a Department Head and the Director of Human Resources.
Educational Reimbursement Program: Eligible employees may be reimbursed for career-related course work up to a maximum of $850 per fiscal year. Eligible employees enrolled in an approved four (4) year College or University academic program may be reimbursed up to $800 per semester for a maximum of $1600 per fiscal year.
Parking Supplemental Downtown Stockton: The County contributes up to $20 per pay period for employees who pay for parking and are assigned to work in the Downtown Core Area.
School Activities: Employees may take up to 40 hours per year, but not more than eight (8) hours per month, to participate in their children's school activities.

At Rocketship, we have made a strong historical commitment to the social-emotional development of our students as well as implementing best practices in supporting behavior. For multiple years, a regular daily component of our school day is a dedicated block to proactively teach social-emotional skills. We have well built PBIS systems and routines at every campus as well as a well built out suite of social-emotional and behavior interventions. The Wellness Team is responsible for the ongoing elevation of these systems and structures as well as the delivery of many of these services including but not limited to: social-emotional learning, social-emotional & behavioral interventions and supports, and mental health services (including ERMHS). The Wellness Counselor will serve a single school site which may include schools in San Jose, Redwood City, Concord, or Antioch. Provides orientation to new patients to the programs' rules, policies, procedures, and patients' rights.

Evaluate the patients for any high-risk conditions (e.g., liver failure, pregnancy, overdose, bipolar, schizophrenia, etc.), which may endanger the patient (suicidal) or other parties (homicidal).
Administer the BAM-R, C-SSRS, GAD-7, and PHQ-9 screening tools to determine the severity of the patient's mental/emotional status.
Evaluate the risk factors concerning each such case, considering the appropriateness of, and professionalism in treating such individuals in an OTP in comparison to treatment in a residential facility or other treatment modalities.
Review and ask about other practitioners' involvement in the treatment of these high-risk conditions. Recommend immediate referral to such a specialist in case of need. Request the patient sign a waiver for release of information which will allow communication with the other practitioner in case of need (e.g., deterioration of the patient's condition)
Flag high-risk patients to the Medical Directors, Physician Extenders, and Regional Clinical Leadership (RCL) and highlight the conditions concerned.
Refer such patients to the Medical Directors, Physician Extenders or RCLs (Regional Clinical Leadership) based on the urgency, utilizing the informal Referral Policy or the scheduled Treatment Team/Case Conference session.
Review physician notes, following the Medical Directors or Physician Extenders' session with the patient, verifying that they noted and addressed the high-risk factor, or otherwise bring it immediately to the attention of the supervising counselor, as well as the clinic manager, until the matter's proper and professional handling by the physician or physician extender.
Advise, in writing, other staff members (including the clinic manager, supervising counselor, dispensing nurse and front office) of high-risk patients and their condition. Maintain and circulate minutes from treatment team/case conference sessions to the other staff members.
Provide professional counseling and referral services by:
Addressing patients' clinical and special needs by maintaining referrals to specialized (“second tier”) services rendered by physicians, physician extenders and counselors within Aegis, as well as referrals to Keys to Recovery (or other twelve-step) support groups, and other community resources (e.g., agencies and practitioners outside of Aegis), acting as a liaison to these agencies, as necessary.
Providing individual and group counseling as clinically necessary, to address the problem issues identified in the Initial Assessment and Treatment Plans. The counseling service will include protocols for the treatment of Relapse Prevention, Peer Pressure, Anger Management, Domestic Violence, Parenting, Family Preservation, Vocational Rehabilitation, etc.
Utilizing advanced counseling techniques such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, etc.
