GENERAL DESCRIPTION
TJJD addresses the multiple and complex needs of the youth committed to the agency as well as their families through a trauma informed multidisciplinary integrated approach that includes implementation of the agency approved Texas Model and a Mental Health Treatment Program (MHTP). The MHTP provides enhanced psychiatric and psychological assistance to youth who have been diagnosed with moderate to severe mental health problems and/or illnesses, which allows the general rehabilitation case managers to focus on risk reduction and protective factor enhancement strategies in order to reduce the risk of reoffending. This collaboration allows for holistic and individualized treatment of youth in need of MHTP services.
Performs entry-level psychological work. Work involves assisting in planning, organizing, coordinating, and monitoring specialized treatment programs. Assists in meeting program goals and objectives; and provides Mental Health Services to youth. Implements and adheres to program standards; and fiscal, personnel, and legal policies.
Works under close supervision, with minimal latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment. May be required to work in excess of 40 hours per work week.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Participates in Youth Service Team Meetings.
Participates in implementation of behavior interventions and treatment plans.
Assists in administering, scoring, analyzing, results of non-projective and performance tests.
Assists in performing diagnostic and treatment functions.
May assist with psychological research projects and program evaluations.
May assist assigned therapist with family involvement.

Bachelor's degree with major course work in psychology or a related field.
Experience and Education Substitutions:
One year of appropriate experience may substitute for one year of college (30 course hours) on a year for year basis.
Completed course hours of undergraduate study may substitute for up to four years of experience on a basis of 30 course hours for one year of experience.
Pro-rated part-time experience may satisfy the experience requirement.

Serve as a liaison between the family and multidisciplinary team members as needed.
Assist multidisciplinary team members in identifying client needs and providing recommendations.

A Day in the Life of Residential Clinical Assistant Would Be:
Guiding residents through daily activities to include meal time, group activities, group and individual therapy, and ensure overall productive day for each patient in treatment.
Promote and maintain a safe and secure environment that allows for the proper delivery of care.
Assistant in welcoming and intaking new residents as they enter the facilities, while ensuring proper comfort and warmth at the start of their new journeys.
Develops and/or conducts specialized psychoeducational groups to help patients gain additional knowledge while developing skills to aid along the journey of recovery.
Effectively communicates with all staff on-site regarding patient care and patient updates to include clinical directors, clinical therapists, nursing staff, program directors, and more.
Utilizes crisis and/or de-escalation intervention practices, when necessary and appropriate, with patient(s) whose behavior cannot be otherwise supported without such interventions.
Monitors patient sharps and valuables and labels/handles appropriately, and reports hazards to the proper department as needed for immediate review.
Provides CPR, wound-care, or medication management as needed under direction of clinical staff.

Depending on required qualifications and experience, a Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor (VRC) vacancy may be filled at any level from a VRC Trainee to Sr VRC. Factors such as education, credentials, and previous experience with the agency will be considered when establishing the hiring level and starting salary. Experience as a Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor must be in accordance with the career ladder requirements of the agency. Related work experience is defined as case management, counseling, job placement and general knowledge of disabilities.
