Job DescriptionLead Counselor (Bristol, VA) Cedar Recovery is currently hiring for a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) or Licensed Professional Counselor with Mental Health Service Provider Designation (LPC-MHSP). The Lead Counselor will implement effective treatment strategies in coordination with the Clinical Director and play a vital role in helping patients feel better, get better and stay better. Cedar Recovery, LLC is an ASAM Level I outpatient treatment facility that employs an array of evidenced-based treatment modalities to provide an integrated model of care of medical, counseling, and therapeutic interventions to treat every patient's individual needs and promote long-term sustainable recovery from substance use disorder. While Cedar Recovery provides care for all substance use disorders, it has a primary focus on treating opioid use disorder with medications such as Buprenorphine and/or Naltrexone, as well as Methadone (MAT). This role will oversee the therapy staff and programming at Cedar Recovery's buprenorphine treatment Office Based Addiction Treatment (OBAT) and methadone treatment Opioid Treatment Program (OTP) facilities. Both facilities are based in Bristol, VA. Overview The Lead Counselor is expected to demonstrate expertise in: individual and group counseling, crisis intervention, consultation, advocacy, case management, substance abuse assessments, intakes, discharge/continuing care planning, and appropriate referrals. The counselor may also perform other related tasks that are a part of Cedar Recovery's operation. The focus in this position requires knowledge of opioid addiction and direct practice in facilitating evidenced based treatment. Counselors are entrusted to maintain their expertise and continually gain knowledge via continuing education and training within the scope of opioid or substance abuse treatment. Day in the Life of a Substance Abuse Counselor • Provides individual counseling to highly complex patients • Conducts clinical assessments to appropriately assess patient's treatment needs • Designs and updates the patient's treatment plan, including care coordination, referrals, and discharge planning • Manages assigned caseload and compliance with clinical treatment requirements • Collaborates with nurses and providers to provide holistic treatment services • Facilitates urine drug screening for patients Schedule and Hours Our clinical team enjoys an early morning schedule with early afternoon out times. It is expected for all clinical team members to participate in our Saturday rotation. The frequency of this rotation is determined by the current staff count. Expected hours for this role are 37-40 hours per week. 4:45 AM - 1:00 PM, Monday through Friday 6:00 AM - 8:00 AM, rotating Saturdays Education and Experience requirements General experience working with underserved populations in a clinical setting. Lived addiction experience is a plus. No legal impediments to serving in a licensed opiate treatment program. Qualified candidates will hold one or more of the following certifications/licenses: : High School Diploma or equivalent. Bachelor's Degree preferred. Must be registered with the North Carolina Substance Abuse Professional Certification board - applicants who are not registered will not be considered for employment (LCAS, LCAS-A, LPC, CADC, or LCSW). RESPONSIBILITIES 1. To write the Individual Support Plans (ISP) in the ICF programs. 2. To review Individual Support Plans written by Independent Support Coordinators and communicate needed corrections to the ISC in the Medicaid Waiver programs. 3. To write Staff Instructions for all individuals. 4. To coordinate the development of data sheets that are needed to implement the ISP and other care plans. 5 To train staff on carrying out the ISP for all individuals. 6. To monitor the effectiveness of the ISP programs through communication with shift supervisor and on-site observation. Coordinate any changes that are indicated. 7. To write Monthly Reviews for all individuals and coordinate any changes that are indicated. 8. To be the contact for Independent Support Coordinators in the Medicaid Waiver programs. 9. To perform other functions as requested. QUALIFICATIONS Credentials Bachelor of Arts Degree in related field. At least one year experience with individuals with Developmental Disabilities. Ability to be insured as a vehicle driver by agency's insurance program. A valid driver's License. Good knowledge of basic English sufficient to read instructions, keep records and write reports. Successful completion of background and reference check. Successful completion of a drug screen. Physical Requirements Ability to intervene physically on an occasional basis with aggressive and violent individuals including, but not limited to, the ability to engage in quick and exertive holding, stooping, bending, twisting, and turning. Ability to physically assist individuals in daily activities, including, but not limited to, assistance in transfers, eating, bathing, dressing, and toileting. Ability to perform repetitive bending and exertion movements daily including, but not limited to, those found in bed making, lifting laundry, and mopping.
