Position Description SCAN'S Youth Recovery Home has 1 full-time Youth Care Worker Position. Youth Recovery Home is a gender specific residential substance abuse treatment program for male adolescents ages 13-17. The Youth Care Worker (YCW) is responsible for providing direct care supervision for youth residing at SCAN'S Youth Recovery Home
Job Duties:
1. Must provide Direct Care Services to youth always maintaining line-of- sight to ensure that appropriate supervision levels are continuously met.
2. Develop positive rapport with youth while serving as a role model to create a safe and caring environment.
3. Responsible for the transition and movement of youth from one activity to the next and one physical location to another.
4. Ensure that the daily recreational activities as required by the state are performed
5. Ensure all forms and shift notes are properly completed at the end of the shift to ensure compliance with state requirements.
6. Be able to distribute medications to youth as prescribed by youth's Medical Provider.
7. Serve as a Substitute Teacher in the absence of the Teacher in a classroom setting.
8. Must assist in the evacuation of youth as needed due to inclement weather conditions, natural disasters, or other unforeseen occurrences as per agency's evacuation plan.
9. Attend meetings to convey youth's progress as required.
10. Maintain a safe, clean, and hazard-free facility. Tasks include regular maintenance and general cleaning of common areas including restrooms and kitchen, laundry duty, and general maintenance of outdoor areas.
11. Able to react to change productively and handle other essential tasks as assigned
12. Performs other duties as assigned within your scope of work and responsibility.
13. Able to work the 7 days of the week with 2 days off on either one of the following shifts: (7:00 a.m.- 3:00 p.m.); (3:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m.); or (11: 00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m.)
Minimum Requirements:
• High School Diploma, GED, or Associate Degree
• Valid Texas Driver's License with good driving record.
• Position requires the availability to work any shift assigned.
• Communicate effectively in writing and verbally in English and Spanish.
• Minimum age of 21 years or older.
• Clean criminal background check.

* provides a full range of psycho-diagnostic services which requires advanced and expert skill in a range of specialized interventions and treatment modalities used in specialty treatment programs or with special patient populations. This includes individual, group, and/or family psychotherapy and advanced level psychosocial and/or case management interventions used in the treatment of Veterans with a range DSM diagnoses, substance abuse/dependence, and poly-traumatic injuries.
* serves as the primary licensed independent clinician to meet the same day access, and crisis intervention needs of Veterans requesting mental health care. This includes conducting the same day evaluation through telehealth modalities, in-person, or by telephone, according to policy. Given that a significant portion of these Veterans are new to Mental Health treatment, this involves providing a diagnosis and provisional treatment plan.
* provides initial and ongoing assessment of needs and completes comprehensive psychological intake evaluations for coverage or mental health updates, including diagnosis, to Veterans in BHIP. The Program Manager (Case Manager) reports directly to the Director of Student Affairs (DSA) and serves as the co-chair of the Behavioral Assessment and Intervention Team (BAIT) and the Student-Parent Liaison. Enrolled at least half-time, 6 credit hours per semester for undergraduate and 3 credit hours per semester for graduates.
Maintain a TAMIU overall GPA of 2.0 for undergraduate students and 3.0 for graduate students.
Must meet all other requirements as stated in TAMIU's Satisfactory Academic Progress Policy (SAPP).
Knowledge and Abilities
Knowledge in the Fitness Field, Personal Trainer certification or seeking certification.
